ok, here it is. bov is on. didnt have to remove the manifold. just blew compressed air in and it worked great. the bov was too loose stock. it was not opening correct ans i set a cel off for maf values out of peramiters. tightened it down it its ok now. still cant hear it too much because of the itnake. the stock bypass on the compressor houseing is still louder. if you make the alta one lighter and let more air out it runs like poop. need the ecu tune and the block off plate.

alta, do you have this on your yellow r56 or on adams car. and of the same issues or comments on how to get it louder or not make the car stall out.

thanks

Well its not louder because you have air going to two bovs so buy the block off plate and it will get louder... About the crappy running from when the Alta bov is loose its because at idle it would be open letting air enter it instead of being read by the maf so the car is lean, when shifting the oposite happens the bov vents measured air and the car is rich. This will happen with any vent to atmo bov in a maf car before the turbo or bov.

EDIT:

Did a search and found this adapter so we dont have to tap the intake manifold

We have it on the yellow car. No issues at all with drivability etc. Sounds like it just needed tighened up. The noise will of course vary based on spring pressure and boost level. But you are now able to fully vent the remaining air as the OEM valve ports are VERY small comparitively. This should improve spool time between gears and further insure against compressor damage.

Curiously, the info above does not apply to the R56. The expected rich condition during shifts is not present in the setup that 07 MCS is running. This may be due to the odd US vs. EU cars. EU cars have all the same sensors, but no MAF, the US cars all have the MAF. Very odd. But we even drove the yellow mule from Utah to the Dragon and all the way back to Portland, including datalogging throught he Innovate Electronics installed in the car.

With ECU tuning we can then eliminate the OEM bypass valve completely.

Hope that helps! Let me know if I can help in anyway further.

I when i had it loose driveability was crap. tightned it up and it great. once the tune is out i will get that and the block off plate. adding the block off plate would prolly freak the car out since the pcm used it to reg boost

Yes exactly true. Oddly we have EU clients with both and claim it works great. But we tried that combo here and no good (BOV and plate)

Just install an intake filter, and it will sound like a bov. and it takes like 5 minutes to install.

yes. the less enclosed the air intake is the more BOV-type sound you will hear. With the Alta CAI kit, the turbo becomes extremely audible. I am sorry I have not gotten around to sound clips. I have been working far too many hours the last two weeks that I did not anticipate.

After running my personal car with the ECU in it over the weekend at higher boost levels, I am pretty convinced I am going to NEED the ALTA BOV upgrade ASAP. I can now here compressor surge and wastegate flutter at certain shift points, clearly showing the OEM BPV weakness in air volume. Once I do, I will have a how-to added as well.

Thanks guys and gals!

That's what I was wondering about, how the stock BOV will perform with the ecu upgrade. Is that causing any harm to any engine components?? or will it slightly cut down performance?....oh, and what's the install like for the upgraded BOV?

Nah it doesn't hurt anything else. It simply vents the pressure out, so the ALTA valve can only help.

If I read this as the stock BOV causing problems at higher boost, it may appear to be the case. So we will see with further testing.

Install for the BOV is very easy. More info to come.
Thank you!

How easy is it to install the ATP Vacuum/Boost Fitting Adapter that JSC speed sells, so you can use a BOV, cause I definitely don't want to drill into the intake manifold.

Have they installed it? Jeff and spoke about making something similar specific to the R56. If the item they show works, then it would be a bolt on no change.

Let us know if you find out!

Well do you guys have something up your sleave that won't require drilling into the intake manifold?

I ALWAYS have things up my sleeve. But I drilled a hole in my manifold in an area cover by the OEM airbox if I sell the car stock. Used a vacuum while drilling and used a large bit. No big deal!

Quick sidenote. If ALL you are trying to accomplish is making more noise, then simply do an intake system. As the noise will then play through there. Or buy the Forge item if you want to keep the intake stock and amplify the BOV venting noise.

Just trying to clarify, not trying to cause problems.

Any problem doing both of the above? I did the JCW intake AND the Forge insert. Its not going to blow up on me, is it?

Still anyone with pics of it installed, wether it be the forge set up or aftermarket BOV. I looked at the forge write up, teh info and pictures are great, except it does not have a ending picture of it installed.
