I can't believe these are still not on the M7 website, the MC2 magazine with the first page/full page ad has been out for some time & I don't think Santa's got time to buy me one for christmas now
It's also not "just" a cold air intake. It is a well designed and tested ram air intake.
Well, it looks nice, but we have not been given any test results. My experience and reading do not support the value of ram air intakes. They may offer a bit of improvement in some situations, but they can also make tuning more difficult. I hope this is a great piece of equipment. Heck, I might even buy one if there is some good data supporting its value. If it were not for STX class rules I would fit a charge cooler at once. Since rules do not permit alterations to any parts on the pressure side of the turbo, there is little to bre done other than an improved intake and hose to the turbo inlet.
I too was interested in this intake. After talking with M7 earlier this month at our club event, it seems this was put on hold for another upcoming toy.. er mod they are testing (think SMG). I got to see it in the car but did not get to see in the engine bay as they said they had parts in there they were testing but didn't to have the intake installed on their test car.
I was talking with them recently as well, sounds like they have another less expensive version in the works as well .. some problems with their composite guys on the ags-r right now
Just, maybe, a stupid question. The cone is over the engine and after a hard day the bonnet is so hot you can fry an egg. Won't it melt it down? I know that it may sound stupid, but after all I had to ask that question.
Thank you!
since it's composite, not plastic, it won't melt, but it could be damaged by the radiant heat, esp. since it requires painting, but M7 says they include some sort of heatshield with it. I haven't seen any updated pictures including the heatshield yet.
I'm waiting for some updated pictures & for them to offer a NAM combo deal, the AGS-R & a carbon vortex scoop. some way to justify/functionalize the MCS hoodscoop.
I spoke to peter from M7 and he said that the AGS-R comes with a heat shield included, and for a bit more you could upgrade to heat resistant material.
ya but no pictures of what this heatshield is or what it'd cost to get the aerogel upgrade.
I'm guessing it's something like the one pictured with the super-ags
eg.
Wouldn't the M7 AGS intake be sucking in hot air from the top of the engine instead of cold air from the grill like the stock unit already does?
I can understand the M7 AGS filter with the M7 carbon intake or the DDM Race intake where those intake funnel cold sir in from the hood scoop....BUT...these open intakes inside the hot engine compartment do not make sence to me.
Wow, reviving an old thread, I ended up ordering the JCW stage 1 intake from Morristown, the stage 2 inlet pipe, and an Amsoil dry filter (EAAU3570). So a true CAI that's not going to foul my MAF.
The AGS-R is sexy looking, but a few NAM members complained of rattles/fitment problems, I just couldn't justify the cost without some serious dyno results or some hard data. I think the M7 crew gave up on NAM a while ago.
so how about some product updates then ? Why's the FMIC been out-of-stock, seemingly, forever ? no new products, no test results, even the website's getting behind the times.

I am really only involved with the R-53 but I am sure that someone at the office could give you the info you require. I do know that there are a couple of R-56 items , some big and some small ,that have just about finished the R&D cycle but you will either have to inquire personally or wait a bit more for the details .
