Drivetrain Header?
So as Andy posted the other day I just read the european car article on their dyno shootout between the magnaflow and the supersprint. Neither of which made power, although the supersprint did add more torque down low. Now I can't say I was really all that suprised that they didn't make huge power but I thought they'd get at least 5-7hp out of an exhaust. In the same EC supersprint has an ad for their header which looks to be a superb piece. I'm wondering if someone has back to back dyno's for the stock exhaust manifold vs an aftermarket header. Maybe the stock exhaust is pretty efficient and the exhaust header is proving to be more of a bottleneck then the stock cat-back? Anyone have any idea's or speculation on this topic?

Headers are good, easy to put on, add to power and complement the exhaust upgrades you may already have.
There are at least three to choose from for both the MC and MCS-fits both that is.
Mini Mania- At $750 or so this is a good option but it does run a little louder and adds about 6 HP. Has O2 sensors that work to not trip dash light and has attached Cat.
Supersprint- $650 and may not come with the Cat. Works but the fit and finish isn't quite as good as the others.
London Stainless- At $1300 this is the most expensive but doesn't add to loudness while adding about 9 to 13 HP.
Very nicely done and has 27 year warranty. Has Sport Cat and O2 sensors that don't trip the dash lights.
Depending on the design of the pipes (4-2-1 vs others) each gives increase in power in different ranges of RPM. Expect some increase in Mid range and most increase in the higher ranges. None give more power in the lower ranges- if you want that get the pulley upgrade.
No dyno info has been reported that I have seen on MCO. Some tuners might know.

I have personally fitted a Supersprint header to my rig; it was perfect, no mechanical issues, and the finish was first rate.
Not sure what this means: "Supersprint- $650 and may not come with the Cat. Works but the fit and finish isn't quite as good as the others."

minihune,
Yes I know Randy dyno'd the minimania header but this was while he already had the Magnaflow on the car. I'd really like to see numbers where the header was the ONLY mod, particularly for the ondon stainless. Also since the magnaflow was on the car, I think that saying that it makes little sound difference might be premature.

I personally fitted my Supersprint header also, the finish is top notch. Only problem is the Cat isn't included, you need to cut the factory header and cat because it one piece. Supersprint does include a new flange that you need to weld to the factory Cat that you cut off. No CEL lights or problems
Question for the header blessed...
How much of a sound difference do you get with the header with stock exhaust?
Anyone have a cat back exhaust installed and then do the header? What was the exhaust note change noted and with which cat back?

His, Chile RED all over, Madness intake, MINI-Motorsport Airbox Mod, Magnaflow Exhaust, BMP spark plug wires, RDR rear sway bar and Helix P/D 15% reduction pulley.
Hers, EB UJ on top and BONE stock

i'm wondering if i did only an exhaust or a header, which one should i do? or would they work better together, ie. they truly compliment each other? if so, do certain brands work better with certain others? and what exactly is the difference?
I have the Milltek header and Magnaflow exhuast on my MCS. Did the Magnaflow first, then the header. Raised the pitch of the exhaust tone, but not any louder. Also had the pulley mod done the day after installing the header - Southern Ohio pulley install. An interesting byproduct from either the header or the pulley or perhaps both combined is the car is not running as rich. If you have the Magnaflow, you are aware of the soot in the exhaust trumphets. Since Sunday, the exhaust tips have very little deposits in them. Mostly medium/dark gray. Anyone have similar results?
