VGS: Still like it?

I am thinking about adding the VGS to my list of mods and wanted to hear peoples opinions about this mod and if the people who've had the VGS for some time now have experienced any problems or reliability issues. Also, i've read that the mod works well with some cars, while others experienced a drop in performance or nothing at all, is there a rule of thumb with this or is this a random thing. I have an 06' and as far as the engines concerned i have a cai, cat back exhaust, 15% sc pulley, will this mod work for me? And lastly, will this affect my warrenty? Thanks

I had it on for a couple of months and hated it! The throttle was either on or off...My mini was much more smoother once it un-did it...maybe for race only...but not for a street car, just my feelings -- Johan

Is the change really drastic/noticable or would it be more like one of those mods that's only noticable to the owner? Will my wife be upset or impressed with this mod (she's into fancy stuff, you know girly things)?

If your wife drove my mini with the vgs installed she would of been very upset for sure...I'm a gear head and couldn't stand it for around the town driving...way tooo jerky!

I have had the VGS on my 06 for over a year and love it, the response/boost is much faster and I no longer have the dreaded yo-yo. For the $5 cost and the half hour to install IMHO it is certainly worth a try.

X2...

For some, it has been very good...

I've tried it and liked it until I decided to give the DetroitTuned's BPV... I've had both for a few months and decided to remove the VGS to see the difference... Since there was none, I decided to leave it without the VGS...

If you want more throttle response, get a Lucky Dog Garage tune....

had it for about six months, loved it; took it off amongst people insisting it was placebo, didnt notice much change if any; left it off for several months renistalled for a few and took it off for a few not noticing much change either way. reinstalled it again several thousand miles back; noticed night day differance much smoother consistant throttle response without being to "jerky" and I could chirp the tires in 3rd again; also the most recent install was witht he adding a boost guage so I get to watch it snap around that much more

The VGS for some comes on too soon, for some, for others it's like a 4 barrel carburator when the sencondaries come on. I have driven a couple of cars with a Detroit Tuned By Pass Valve w/VGS & it's just like an on off switch. If you use a DT BPV I don't recomend the VGS. If you have the OE piece, for my 03, it was 1 of the best low $$$ deals.
I, now, have a DT BPV & like it quite well - no VGS necessary, but for some this is much like the VGS, on - off ( the on - off is NOT nice, I don't care how good you are with your right foot ). It really depends on how much vacuum there is at the valve ( some cars have more than other - less will make the valve shut sooner than you want = on - off ). With this 03, the DT BPV is quite smooth as was the VGS.

Worked for me on my '04. Reduced the yo-yo a bit & improved driveability.
