When you look at the big picture environmental awareness has increased exponentially in the past 30 years, especially in the 90's (Clean Air Act), and since Al Gore came out with his recent documentary. When you think about it, there are very few people that don't run CATs, compared with the millions who do. Think about it. There are well over 150,000 MINIs on the road (I read somewhere). Only a few thousand of them are on NAM, and only a handful actually don't run a CAT!

My point is that I don't have a problem with a guy like MSFITOY, who clearly has a plan with his car, who doesn't run a CAT. Its not like he's running a CAT out of spite, or just because it sounds cool. Don't get me wrong! I am all for environmental protection and awareness. I'm majoring in environmental science in college, and I would NEVER run CAT-less myself. But a few people here or there isn't going to do any major damage, as long as the numbers stay where they are or go down, which WILL happen IMO- slowly but surely. Similarly, you see more hybrids on the streets.

What I do have a problem with is berating someone who does run CAT-less. (the douche comment was TOTALLY unnecessary, and made a poor impression on a new NAMer). Its their car, and they aren't going to change it. I would totally be ok with talking someone out of the procedure, but once its done, its done. Spend your energy in preventative measures rather than what has been done.

Then, I explained what I thought and why in post #4, and gave reasonable suggestions and quoted a professional, credible opinion. More info than 90% of the rest of the posts on this thread.

I didn't call him a douche. Anyway, douche=goofball=knucklehead=fool=meathead=boob. . . I could go on and on giving you synonyms. . . IMO, not running a cat merits the use of strong language.

That was fun...just so you guys feel better, I am installing a cat next week when my appointment is due...

This 2.5" Magnaflow is one of several candidates I have in mind...

Ok...I have to attend to a pile of styrofoam in my backyard that I'm burning...

Good for you!

Instead of burning the styrofoam, you could always just invite a bunch of people over, preferrably female, to wrestle in it, get 'em a little rough, document with a camera, then just scatter the leftover contents along any number of scenic byways to float on the winds of freedom forever. . .

Know what I'm gonna do? I'm gonna get myself a 1967 Cadillac El Dorado,
hot-pink, with whaleskin hubcaps and all-leather cow interior and big
brown baby seal eyes for headlights... yeah! And I'm gonna drive around in
that baby doing 115 miles an hour, getting 1 mile per gallon, suckin' down
quarter pound cheeseburgers from McDonald's in the old-fashioned non-
biodegradable styrofoam containers... yeah! And when I'm done suckin' down
those greaseball burgers I'm gonna toss the styrofoam containers right out the side,
and there ain't anything anybody can do about it.

HAHA j/k

I'm going to be using a cat similar to THIS...
