Drivetrain bucking at stoplight
Hi. I am sorry to have to bring this stumble/hesitation problem again as I know it is pretty common. However, I have had the software upgrade to 32.something and after I drove it around it seemed to not hesitate/buck so much at a slow speed (under 10mph) However, today, I drove it in massive NYC traffic..stop/start stuff, and noticed that when I am at a full stop, it bucked occasionally, and I almost thought someone had hit me from behind...has anyone had this?
Thanks.
Thanks.

You are kidding, and you own a MINI! Well you aren't gonna get me 'cos I've got laser shifters! They turn around incoming hostile lasers and send 'em back scrambled. You'll see me at a gazillion mph! Take that to the court!

We (Val and I) have a 2/14/03 built CVT and we occasionally have that same kick in the rear like someone hit us. It usually occurs in heavy stop-n-go traffic, just like you said. Because of a thread I read where the s/w version 32.x included the idle speed increase when the a/c was on, and ours does that, I believe we have that s/w version. I also thought I read that there was a version 33 out there that was suppose to fix the bumping, and according to "minimom" on the miniusa owner's lounge, it does. This is not enough of a problem for me at the moment, so I figure to just wait for my first service interval (another 6k miles) and have it done then.
Minidee, have you played around with the M +/- mode much. I have been having a blast putting it into 1 and just leaving it there to let the s/w up-shift when it hits redline. You can really feather the throttle and not have the tranny up-shift on you and leave you bogged down in a too tall gear ratio. Like it does in "D" and "SD" modes. When I want to slow down, I just downshift as I go into a corner to get the revs & torque up for the exit. This thing is more than just some automatic, it's a marvelous bit of engineering. I'm beginning to think of "D" as "dull" mode. Hope you can get out the that NYC traffic and give it a go; maybe someplace like Sawmill Parkway, only with less traffic. Happy Motoring, -=Mike=-
