for those of you who have upgraded you suspension. did you do springs ans shocks or jsut springs? i guess my real question is, i'm planning on putting h&r springs on, and was carious if i can get away with just springs and not do the stock shocks? will the stock shcoks beable to handle the lowering springs without any damage done?
the reason i askis because some springs (depending on what ones you get) require you to replace the shocks to a more performance shock to make up for the shorter travel the springs give.
thanx

I got the H-sport springs and swaybar but didn't touch the shocks. From the many other posts out there, seems like people don't replace the shocks.

I would think that it doesn't matter since the shock is only there to to cushion the "blow" so to speak and not act as part of the suspension performance. I could be wrong but I never even thought to replace shocks.

just my $0.02 worth.

I installed H-sport springs ($240) and madness rear swaybar($190). Kept the stock shocks and it is doing fine. With coil overs you can do more fine tuning and you get a stiffer ride and do more lowering of the car but all for a higher price $1500 to $1900.

So for lower cost and not too much lowering of the car (1 inch all around) with minimal adjustability- the H-sport springs are good. Rear swaybar helps to reduce understeer further and complements the springs. Newest model bar comes with three hole settings for firmness. The HR and H-sport springs are designed to work with the stock shocks. The HR lowers the car a bit more than the H-sport.

You can get both the front/rear bar at
H-Sport for only $344.00 1 Pair
it is much better deal for the two then just go and get the front only.

Tubular Anti-Roll Bar Kit
Finally! A tubular anti-roll bar set with adjustability at both front and rear! H-Sport's anti-roll bar set greatly reduces the roll characteristics of the Mini without sacrificing ride quality. A huge handling improvement and a lot of fun to adjust and feel both front and rear.

27MM FRONT / 19MM REAR
2 POSITION FRONT AND 2 POSITION REAR

POLYURETHANE BUSHINGS AND BRACKETS WITH GREASE FITTINGS FRONT AND REAR - NO SQUEEKING!

TUBULAR CONSTRUCTION SAVES WEIGHT WITHOUT SACRIFICING STRENGTH AND DURABILTY
