I posted this in the competition forum, but that doesn't get much traffic. Sorry if this semi-off topic is inappropriate.

What class does a car equipped with the Works kit fall into?

Also, will SCCA rules allow an MCS with the pulley mod to be in the same class as the Works MCS, since the 15% reduction pulley is now offered as part of a Manufacturer-offered option?

My guess is I'll be in Street Mod, but I'm hoping for a little better. I'll snoop around on the SCCA site, but just in case anyone has a quick answer, what class would my MCS fall into with the following?

1. Mania intake
2. NRP exhaust
3. Mania adustable swaybar
4. Mania strut brace
5. Pulley mod
6. Mania springs

Thanks. JR

Street Mod is the place you oughta be.
The two biggest gains you do not have listed, and those are-
RCompounds 215/40 16 Hoosiers on some wide 7.5" wheels
Limited Slip Differential
Hope to see you at the VMSC events, I will not be at the next Cloverleaf event, the National Tour is in DC that weekend.

The JCW kit is not installed by the factory, it is a dealer-installed package. As such, SCCA rules say a kit like JCW is no different than the same accessories, owner-installed.

Thanks for the info, guys. Sorry you'll miss the Cloverleaf autox, MX5. I've only done two since I've had my MCS...one at Southside, the other at VMP. I used to race a lot with a tricked out Scirocco. I agree, the runflats have got to go. If I start doing Solo II on a regular basis again, I'll spring for an autox wheel/tire set. The Hoosiers you mention are autox tires, right? Would I not be allowed to run slicks in SM? Thanks again.

SM requires DOT approved tires.... it is the pully mod that puts you in SM.... As for the works kit there was a note in the last FastTrack (a buliten of SCCA rule updates) that the solo board is looking at the works kit to decide if it should have a Stock Class listing.... My opinion is that it is a BIG long shot... the works S will be stuck in SM is my Guess....

I am going to try and make it to the Cloverleaf Mall event, if not to race then watch you guys The year before last when it rained I ran it with my S2000. I just sold my Cooper and bought a Cooper S - still in the break-in period!

Cool, Mike. I'll look for you there. The event is full, but we're going to go early and pick up the no-show spots. Sounds like fun. JR
