Like it sent in the PM, it's all in hows it's adjusted on the car. you can have it site flush, a bit of stick out, or a lot of stick out. you should just need to move the rear section back a bit and slide the center pipe more into the rear section as you do this.

Note: every car is different and the adjustment will be different for every car. but as shown in this thread. the tips can fit flush to the bumper.

Up date on the VOLT exhaust

I recently purchased a VOLT cat back exhaust from Detroit Tuned.
After I placed the order I saw a sound clip on you tube labeled 118 db and it was LOUD. At that point I was a little worried that I had made a horrible mistake. Detroit Tuned assured me that everything was OK.

I installed the system in my garage Saturday in about 1 and a half hours with help from my son. Since my "S" is an 06 and the system was made for an 02 or 03 there was some concern but we installed it using only the outside hangers. It is a little tight but everything seems to be OK. The Volt is well within a reasonable sound level both inside and out. I rate the stock system as 10 and the VOLT as 12. There is a slight increase in burble.

All in all I am very happy with the VOLT at this point but I will repost if things change.

i am happy you liked it. we try not to sell any junk here. if i had a lot of problems with the system or people really hated it i would not sell it. i worked with this system for a month or so before i released it to the public. we test fit it to a car and drove it for a while back and forth to work for a month to see how the sound changed and thing fit. the burble is the best part about this system. i like it so much that i have thought about installing on on my own car (i have 1/2 a Milltek now). if i would not install it on my own car, i would not sell it.

It is also true that any exhaust system will be louder with a header. it will almost double it.

you can expect the normal 8 to 12 hp gain. each car is a bit different.

how loud is this compared to a Milltek? On a scale of 1-10, if stock is a 1, a Milltek a 2, the Alta Sportone a 4?

Got it like a month ago and burble is like no other. Got it from Performance Peddler for $250. I personally didn't have that hard of a time installing it, but I have an '02. I did however have to heat one of the tips up and bend it up a bit, no big deal, but it came a little bent and not perfectly even.

I had a similar experience as you did. I got my exhaust from Performance Peddler for the same price, the tips needed to be worked on. I have a feeling that Performance Peddler gets the Volt exhausts that are 2nds while Detroit Tune gets the good ones. That could explain some of the price difference between the two.

I just got mine from performance peddler for $254 with free shipping all the way to west coast. The resonator had a slight ding, and there we some scratches, and I think my tips are slightly off too. The the slip joint to the resonator was really tight, but the slip joint to the muffler section was really loose. The first night I didnt have exhaust clamps and I could see exhaust coming out of the slip joint.

All in all I'm really happy with the system. For the price it can't be beat. I do agree though that DT must get the Grade A one's and PP has the banged up ones. I'm pretty sure DT wouldn't let one get out the door if it was in the shape mine came in.

Sound is deep but definately louder than stock. So far I'm enjoying the sound, but I haven't put many miles on it. I haven't driven in a Mini with a different exhaust to compare, but it's way louder than my buddies MKIV GTI with full turboback Milltek

I read on another thread that Performance Peddler supplies Detroit Tuned with the Volt exhaust. Whether or not that's true, I have no idea. But I agree, for the price, this exhaust cannot be beaten.

ordered mine today so we'll see what shape it comes in being he said they were new with no dents or scratches since i def asked that Q to them. They said they only have 8 or so left and will let them go for $250-$300 depending on where its going.

Got mine from performance peddler for valentines for $255 and installed it that Friday. It sounds awesome when you give it a little rev in neutral... and you just can't beat the price!! When I first drove it I didn't really like how freakin loud it was, but it has grown on me... i just feel like everyone is looking at me when i leave the red light and get up to speed It looks just like the Magnaflow too. everything lines up good too... except the right tip is just a hair crooked, or maybe I'm just looking at it too hard. And, while driving for the first two days it smelt like my car was on fire but i realized it was coming out of the exhaust... guess a little bit of packing material got in the exhaust or something. But overall I recommend this exhaust to anyone who wants a cheap (price wise; it is stainless steal) , fairly loud, good looking exhaust.
