I would have to agree that no matter how good you are or think you are,
There is always more to learn and more practice to be had.
Even professional drivers go to driving school- and they learn the same stuff we all learn but at a higher level.
It can't hurt to be soundly grounded in the basics.
And it is always good to learn the basics well and correctly without developing bad habits.

I've got to agree with this one. I've had my MCS for about 10 weeks now. Three weeks ago I went to an all day "Performance Driving Clinic" at Buttonwillow. Wow! I can only say that I wish I'd done this years ago. I learned an enormous amount about driving, improved my skills immensely, and had the most fun driving that I've ever had. All you guys modding your cars - try modding yourself first. It's well worth it.

jivanivan - Buttonwillow is about 4 hours from SF, or 2 hours from LA.

Andy, I went and read all about the loose nut. What a convincing write up of your mod. You made huge improvements in just one day.

I checked out Evolution Performance Driving School.

Does anyone in the NY area want to go to a phase 1 class in August?? (August 23/24 phase 1, phase 2, driver challenge). I've sent out an email for more info.

Dandp, I've started a new thread in the NY forum. I hope you can make it.

If you get a chance, head over to Giant's Stadium on Sunday, 6/15. There's a NASA autocross with tons of extremely knowledgable drivers. If you run the autocross ($30 for NASA members, $40 for non-members) in the Novice group, you can get personalized in-car driving instruction for no extra charge! Some day, when I am a good driver, a plan to give such instruction myself.

>>hey, sign me up! Please let me know how to get information on what you offer, MINI specific. I took a class last year with Advanced Driving Dynamics and even though it was focussed on safety more than anything it was well worth the time, really helped me to clean up bad driving habits and have more control over my vehicle. highly reccommend it.undefined

There is a driving school offered by the SCCA at their track at Thunderhill in Willows. Check out the Street School. My dealer, MINI of Mt. View is also sponsoring a day at Thunderhill in August. 30 MINI's, should be a lot of fun. And on Dec. 31, Driving Concepts, is offering a school at Laguna Seca, which I am really looking forward to.Driving Concepts

For those of you in the Midwest, check out Midwest Driver. It's a driving school based in St. Louis and run by Phil Wicks. Phil raced Minis in the 60's and was the stunt driver for the red Mini in the original Italian Job! I have taken his novice and intermediate class so far. Both my street and track driving have imporved tremendously. Check him out!
