Drivetrain Project MSFITOY Part 2...
Laurent is a great guy and a master carbonoligist. have you seen the custom racing seat insert he made for his MINI? to have his talent and the resources of Champion Audi.......sounds like a great weekend.
sorry to hi-jack this thread, MSFITOY. (but it does seem to wander from time to time, anyway
)
i don't have any pics of the insert, but it is sweet. he used the same chemical foam used by high level race teams to make custom seats for their drivers (as when multiple drivers are piloting an ALMS car). he put this expanding foam system in his stock MINI seat, made a mold, trimmed it then upholstered it. it looked like a high end aftermarket seat, but was removable to expose the factory seat. great thinking. i'll pm carbonized to see if he will start a new thread.

Hello Sid, just got back home from Detroit, bit of sleep and rest and found your post. It was a real treat to meet you and Lisa, wish I could have shown you the whole thing more in detail (the pits are impressive, etc.) but I was a little bit pressed by time, hope you enjoyed your time there, the end of the race was a fan's dream although it wasn't in our favor, we put up a great show and that is what's important. The track is not what best suits our cars, but everything was top-notch, paddocks, pits, organization, transpo, etc. Thanks Detroit!!!
For anybody wanting to see the seat insert, I think the pix are still on my gallery and somewhere in this forum a long while ago I posted a few with a short "how-to." As far as the rear seat delete I'll post pix soon in its own thread (can't keep hijacking threads forever).

Do remind me when the date comes close and I'll join you...if the weather permits LOL...
ChrisMCS04, you would have to get your hand on a Audi R8 rear wing flap, cut it in half and I could take it from there
.Oh, and I forgot the titanium hardware that hold the main element to the car

Is this the LeMans car or the street car? And what year does it have to be. I know they(you) switched the wing size for regulations on the LeMans car in 04'? I think that was the year. Let me know.

It come from a Champion racing R8 wing that Johnny Erbert crashed in 2004 at road atlanta. the street car as no wing and whent on the marcket in 07. The wings at le Mans where shorter (150 millimeters, If I remenber) but the same profile. Any of this are hard to find and retardedly expensive. They where before the retirment of the car and the guy racing vintage are paying a premium for these things now!
