That sure looks like a welded piece to me. Not saying it's not a quality part, just that I don't think it is worth anywhere near what they are asking for it. YMMV.
Your right this pic shows a weld but mine had no weld.
PS - most mini parts are overpriced compared to other car aftermarket parts like honda, ect.....
