Though your premise is right, IMO the car does in fact jump more quickly to attention with Sport on. With Sport off, MINI ramps up the throttle more gradually. Therefore, you are more likely to have the steering wheel torn from your grip with MCS LSD and wheel cocked if Sport Button is on. I would be mindful to warn all drivers of this scenerio before they drive my car. It caught my wife and I off guard pretty well the first time we each encountered it while shifting up to second on making a left hand turn onto a quick moving road.

Activates an overboost function as well, if i remember correctly... maybe thats the jcw kit im thinking of? someone correct me. I actually like non sport mode better, wheel is easier to control and the boost is more linear instead of spiking around.

The overboost is only a function of throttle position and application as I understand it. Check out Ryephile's datalogging posts for details.

Tell me about it! I gunned it today to get around a slow-moving Caprice on a left hand turn and could barely hold onto the steering wheel. I love the LSD, but man sometimes it scares the $#!@ outta me!

They still do. There's a "C/S" button where if you have it set in Comfort mode, it'll always start in 2nd gear. You'll get the full set in Sport Mode.

Same goes for Porsche's Tiptronic automatic. You have to manually paddle shift it into 1st.

Makes me wish I had an R56. Shiv...when are you going to make stuff for the VW GTi? Loved your Subie stuff when I had my Impreza. I guess this is off-topic too...

any good news for the waiting fans yet. I saw a post on mini2 the other day about a guy in europe who had some private tuning done and netted around 210bhp. that is definitely very impressive. i'm hoping that your product will achieve similar results. this car is already amazing and that would just enhance the it even more. thanks

Hello Boys and Girls,

We have been working on some new firmware features that we needed for the MINI in order to control everything properly. Here are a few things we have accomplished in the past few months:

1. Control over boost. We have run a number of different boost levels, all without inducing any diagnostic issues.
2. Control over fueling. It works much the same way as the BMW, so we had a bit of a head start on this one.
3. Control over timing. This is always the first thing we get working on a car, because it is often the most difficult to do. Needless to say, we have it licked.

At this point, we are testing out the new firmware features we developed. As long as all these work as planned, we will be able to keep moving forward, at which time we will get the car on a dyno, and get the numbers we have all been waiting for. Without any data to back it up, I can tell you guys the buttdyno says the car is much faster even on 1 or 2 more PSI of boost. We are excited to say the least.

Sweet!

Just remember when determining pricing that MOST of us don't have the kind of money BMW 335 owners have.
