Drivetrain Vishnu PROcede for MINI
Vishnu PROcede for MINI
Hi guys,
Figured this was the best place to make the announcement. We're currently in the process of developing a PROcede application for the new turbocharged Mini. This is the same PROcede we have been using sucessfully on the twin turbo BMW 335i. We hope to have some early testing results up in the next 2-3 weeks. If you have any questions, let me know.
Cheers,
Shiv

Awesome! I have been checking on your site every so often for the MINI PROcede announcement after reading about the 335i application.
Now I can go ahead and order my '07.
Shiv, how long does it usually take you to get a new PROcede application tested and to the market?

There IS a God!
Can't wait for further developments, please keep us posted and let me know when I can expect to make the drive down to Danville.

This is excellent news Shiv! I look forward to reading about your R&D work with the Mini (hopefully you'll be as publicly open about the progress as you were the the E90/E92 application).
When you're selecting beta cars, please feel free to contact me, as our shop does have an R56 MCS project car coming in in the next couple weeks, and the owner will only be able to keep it stock for so long.

Welcome to NAM Shiv! You can put me down for a PROcede provided you can flatten out the boost curve across the RPM range.
The PROcede, as I understand it, is a plug-in piggyback module. Not as ideal as an ECU flash, but considering an ECU flash for the R56 might be about as easy as cracking Fort Knox, the PROcede may be the dogs bollocks for a while.

This is going on my list for mods next year, FOR SURE! I guess its cool that I've gotta wait, but maybe some additional improvements will be made along the way

Will you consider making it user switchable after installed? Maybe an ignition off switch. I ask because I'd love power and mileage, though the two are generally mutually exclusive. So a switch to enable the power would make a fun split personality for the MINI.
If I were building a piggyback, that's how I'd build it.

karl - mileage and power aren't mutually exclusive. My supercharged R53 had 190whp and got 25mpg avg. When I dropped the blower and went single-turbo, I then got 318whp and 31mpg avg. There's no modern reason, especially with the R56, to compromise between the two when the torque demand of crusing versus peak power are so different. If you want good mileage, don't floor it...literally that simple!
Hey Guys,
I am also going to be working on the PROcede for mini project. We are looking forward to diving into this car and keeping this forum in the loop every step of the way.
Thanks for the kind words,
Dustin-

--->Shiv or Dustin: Could you provide some insight as to what the PROcede changes? Just a summary to give us an idea what gets changed in terms of engine management would help. Does the PROcede change ignition timing, AFR targets, or the boost controller? How about the Sport button or the throttle pedal response?
Thanks,
Ryan
Thanks,

Hi Ryan,
We are very early in the stages of development at the moment. At this point, we know the PROcede will control the necessities of ignition advance, Fueling control and boost control. Beyond that, further development is needed to determine what else will need to be adapted.

Suggestion:
Is there a way to turn off DSC but leave on the TCS? Or somehow make DSC not so intrusive? MTH has done this on the r53.
EDIT:
Is there a way to turn of the ASC-T but leave on the DSC?
