How loud are they compared to the OEM exhaust? I'm not looking for loud.

I checked out the clips it's just hard to tell.

thanks,

What/how do you want to hear it? ie. from inside, windows up or down, back seats up or down? From outside?

Let me know and I'll try to record something tomorrow and post it tomorrow night...

I can't promise a comparison with a stock MCS though... but maybe...

I have the OBX header, so mine is pretty loud, If I think it's just much deeper than stock. I can't stand the stock/JCW exhaust, I think it sounds horrible. Honestly to me it sounds like a cheap coffee can exhaust .

I'm looking for a nice deep mellow sound not the loud buzz like the Japanese tuners run.

thanks,

Marty, where are you located? To be frank, I think the only way to find out which exhaust is right for you is to listen to them in person to compare their tone and volume.

Like rustyboy, I have the Invidia with the OBX header (though I don't have the ported head). It sounds like an I-6 to me - throatier and deeper in tone than the OEM exhaust, not at all like a bumble bee. With the top down, it's not obnoxiously loud under 4.5K RPMs, but definitely barks at WOT and redline. However, that's my own assessment - my girlfriend opens the garage door for me before I arrive because she swears that she can hear me coming from a mile away.

you've got to hear the invidia in person, its more sound than the milltek but its the perfect tone. its the way an exhaust should sound

My assessment as well. I get compliments on the sound all the time. I have an Alta header, so it can get quite loud at WOT. Overall, very happy with my decision to go with this exhaust.

I'd definitely have to agree, the sound is deep and throaty, and not at all irritating. No highway drone to speak of, and it sounds incredible when you really push it. I'll try to put up some Stock/Invidia clips I have later, it's quite the difference.

All the posts here are right on the money. Loud has been played.......

Loud gets old quick. Even my wife likes the sound. No drone, buzz or suprise rasp on decell.

Adding any header to the picture will introduce a mild drone. I have the OBX header with the stock cat on it and it does indeed drone on the freeway. It's probably not going to be as noticable in an 04 because at 70-80 MPH you're going to be 300-400 RPM's slower than you are on an 05-06 because of the higher gearing.

The drone doesn't really bother me, I just turn the radio up, it's not so loud that you can't talk over it, in fact the SC whine is almost as loud as the exhaust.

The invidia looks really nice, and you've taken some great looking pictures of it! After being almost set on the milltek, I'm considering the invidia now, but was wondering if you could take a sound clip from the interior with the back seats up? I noticed you had one with the seats down and know this makes the exhaust sound louder than it would usually. I do a lot of highway driving so I just want an idea of the interior noise level. Does it drone?

Thanks in advance!

The Invidia does not drone, unless you have an aftermarket header maybe.

I can record something tomorrow with the seats up - you probably won't hear anything exhaust-wise, unless you get on it and even then it's fine with no drone, etc.

Check back Sunday night...

From what you described it sounds exactly like what I'm looking for, thanks again!

A friend of mine has the Invidia. From outside the car it's pretty loud; but a good deep loud. To give you an idea, we pulled into a gas station. I got out of my car and my friend was two pump rows away hidden behind a truck. When he blipped the throttle to back up everyone filling their cars turned round.

I've also driven his car. From inside with the back seat down the sound is louder than stock but not in any way intrusive. At highway speed it's quite civilized. With the back seat up it's hardly noticeable.

If it wasn't for the blue tips I'd put one on my car. But that's just personal choice and I know many people love the Invidia tips. If you like the look then you'll love this exhaust.

I've added 2 more Invidia sound clips in my gallery - #7 & 8. All you'll hear is road noise once I get cruising at highway speeds...

#7 = 04 MCS CAI 15% Invidia - inside windows up seats up - easy launch - WOT 2nd - 3rd - 6th at 75 mph

#8 = 04 MCS CAI 15% Invidia - inside windows up seats up - 1st - 2nd - 3rd - 6th at 50-60mph

Wow very thorough, couldn't ask for more. Thanks, you've made my decision really easy: Nice sound, no drone, beautiful system. Invidia, Done.

OK. I've seen the Invidia, I've heard the Invidia, I've driven behind a MINI with the Invidia and driven a MINI with the Invidia. I think it's a great product and I'd buy one for my car instantly, but for one reason. I don't like the blue tips.

I know it's only cosmetic, but the blue tips only look good on certain body colors, in my opinion, so don't take offense if you disagree. So here'e the question. Has anyone out there had the Invidia tips re-finished or replaced? I'd be interested to see the finished product and find out how easy or difficult it was.
