Alta 17% Reduction Pulley

Ok,

I just bought a Alta version 2 17% Reduction supercharger pully and I'm scared I didn't get the 15%

My question to all of you gurus is did I?
Right now my mods will be the 17% and the Invidia exhaust. My plan is to add the Alta CAI and down the raod a DFIC

Am I going to have problems with a 17% versus a 15%?
The reason I bought the 17% is because I wanted a little more ooomph at lower RPM's. I don't track the car and I'm not at redline alot.

I just heard that there is more of a problem with belts breaking because of the 17% pullys and problems with heat

Anyway, I want to know if I made a mistake before I install it...
Thanks everyone in advance for your help

My fears need quelling.... End my internal freak out!!

There must be a million threads on this by now...

There are a TON of people with 17%, 19%, 15+2%, 17+2%.... and on and on and on.

How many threads do you see where people write horror stories about anything bad happening because of it???

Personally, I think you'll find that the 17% will be just fine in the long run, however, once you start, you cant stop. Motor ON!

I personaly don't think you made a mistake. I think it's suited to your driving style/needs.
I have been running a 17% Helix13 pulley now for 30,000+ no problems because of pulley. My buddy for about 20,000+ no problems and he hammers his car.

yeah i def think your safe for now . the 17 recduction is probally as much as you should go though because 19 is where the danger starts. but if its ur everyday driver and you dont push it too much you should have no problem

Oh yes the pully has been installed for almost a month now! I've been loving every minute of it too I can honestly say that I am glad I went with the 17%, car pulls excellent and since I added my Craven CAI boy can I hear that suger charger whine!

Such a huge increase in power from the day I bought the car

Next up is a Alta top mount IC and NGK cooler plugs this weekend!

I'm about to take my first bites outta that apple as well. Dinan, M7 USS, etc. I can already feel it happening (the draining of the wallet and the grumblings of the wife, that is).

I agree with you about the increse in power. I installed the 17% pulley a month after I did my DDM CAI and boy what a rush after the install. Shortly after that, I completed the deal with a Milltek exhaust. Last week I installed some NGK iridium plugs (one step colder than stock) just for safe keeping.

I had a v2.0 alta 17% put on my car the second week of May and two days later drove 750 miles down south to North Carolina. Then I drove another 400 miles to the Dragon that next weekend, hit that up a few times, drove 400 miles back to my buddy's house and then a few days later another 750 miles back home to my house and not a single problem with anything. Car is absolutely amazing. Night and day difference. But yeah man I wouldn't worry about it thousands upon thousands of people have put pullies on and a handful have had a problem. Just sit back, hold on, and enjoy your "new" Mini.

Steve
