Launching an 02 cooper s
I've been with out internet for the past 2 weeks so first off I'd like to say its good to be connected again and I had 143 e-mails waiting for me... (mostly spam)
So I went up to BeaverSprings just over 2 weeks ago and got to run my cooper-s 14 times (11 myself). My best time was a 15.21 @ 93.0mph in the 1/4 with a 0.83 reaction time on firehawk all-weathers... My worst time was a 16.93 with a reaction time of 0.13 because I smoked all of first and second (it doesnt help that you drift backwards when staged) My average ended up being about .5 second reaction time running a 15.5 @ 91mph in the quarter.
The only mods i have is a short shifter, magnaflow exhaust, and a short ram intake. Traction control was turned off.
So heres my delema... the faster my reaction time, the worse my launches are. I take my good old time with a .83, get a near perfect launch, and the car moves like a bat out of hell. I get a better reaction time, and my launch suffers and the car suffers too... The car is fast enough to break into the 14's on a track thats somwhere between 8'-12' up hill, but my amature racing skills keep me in the 15's. Any advice? (with out spending more money)
and for the record, I beat the **** out of that car for 2 hours straight and not once did i ever feel the clutch fade, engine run week or hot, while my buddy brings his built 91 integra and snaps his transaxle on his 3rd run. Also, the dragracing wasnt my idea. I prefer autocross, but they wanted to see what it could do. They were driving a 02 twin turbo corvette, 383 stroker camaro ss, and a 00 mustang gt with an assload of bolt ons. times are in their respective order: 13.1, 11.8, 14.1 - the vette had to leave early due to a knocking sound with unknown causes.
