New Leda coilover questions
Hi Guys,
I posted this to the suspension thread but got no responses. Any of you done your own Leda installs or at least drooled over your parts before the install? These pics have the camber plates attached but check out my questions in the following post:

Dave, I read that post and didn't want to answer as you may not want to hear what "I" think.
I'm not sure I would be happy if I were you. Something is not right if the claim was that they were 'barely used'. I might guess that they had been used enough that they were sent back to Leda for a rebuild and that they came back with some new parts on one of them, and that's the "wishful" thinking answer.
Ledas are a poor shock for the street as they just can't take that kind of punishment. They are known for needing rebuilds at least every two years, at least, .... and that's on strickly race prep cars which don't take as much of a beating.

That isn't bad news to me as I paid to have them rebuilt rather than take any chances on them having issues in my car. Thanks for the info!! I have driven on Ledas on the track and they have been extremely impressive (this was on Porsches) and heard great things about them on the Mini. The car has 2k miles on it since I got it in Dec 2005 so I think I am a good candidate for them holding up.
The deal was that I bought them from a friend of a friend who honestly isn't as much of a wrench as my limited ability and he had used them on the car for 1.5 years. He and I both knew the Ledas are completely rebuildable and for reasonable money unlike the Bilsteins on my previous M3 race car... so he shipped them to the shop for rebuilds and I paid for that work and then they shipped to me. I think my next move is to call the shop and make sure all is in order.
I also want to secure the parts needed to make a swappable set with the stock components, making the swap as easy as possible. It "looks" like these will drop right in and the only trick tool I will need is a spring compresser that isn't wall mounted to get the stock springs out. I don't know much yet... this is all I know.
