Barber Motorsports Park, anyone?
Barber Motorsports Park, anyone?
[size=2]I'd just like to throw out an invitation to a DE event at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, AL. I'm active in the Audi club, and we're having the event on the first weekend of November (5th & 6th). We're falling a bit short on enrollment to break even
and we'd be happy to have other marques join us. My wife will will be there with her '04 MCS, and there are usually various MINIs, Porsches, and BMWs.
The cost is $349 for Audi Club NA members; tack on another $44 yearly membership for non-members (this is required for club liability reasons, they might knock off $10 if you don't want the quarterly magazine). Run groups will be broken up into beginner through advanced. If you haven't been to a DE before, you'll get a little classroom time and plenty of instruction to get you comfortable. For advanced folks, you probably already know that this is a great facility--challenging, yet safe. Don't forget about the beautiful setting (fall colors should be near peak) and the on-site motorsports museum.
See here for registration form and info:

Hope to see some other MINIs there!

Though there are several of my fellow Chicago Audi Club boys heading down, I don't think I'm going to make it. It's just too far to risk a breakdown without a trailer.
Maybe next year!!!
Introduce yourself to Ken (primer TT) and Marko (Casablanca White A4) from our Club though when they get there - great guys and also board members.

I've driven my '86 ur-q from Vancouver to TN (3K miles), from TN to Mid-Ohio and back (1K miles), and from TN to CT and back (2K miles)--all in less than a year. The only problem to speak of was a blown intake hose coming back from CT, but that just forced me to stay out of the boost for 1K miles.
Why not bring the MINI?
No the Audi is rock solid and the Mini has been thusfar as well.
It's just too far, too late in the season. The Gung-Ho aspect of '05 is gone in me. :-/ I'm going to Gingerman tomorrow to help instruct with another school and I'm just...tired.
