How Many Track Days?
Me too... not as long ago but on a gixxer 600. I remember being on the track with Yates and he blew by us like we were sitting still.
Can't wait to do some track days their again.

It is official - the membership at Monticello has spoken and there will be no more Club (BMW, SCDA, etc) track days there. There are a few left this year. But if you were thinking of putting that one on you list for next year, do it now or miss it.
Porsche Bob told me that PCA is having a weekend track event at Monticello Oct2 to 3. Then you can make it a three day event with the Oct 4 SCDA event. May be a pretty good ending to our Monticello experience.
Have done BMW CCA schools at VIR, Road America and Mid-Ohio. Signed up for schools at Watkins Glen and Barber this year. Have done many open track days at BeaveRun Motorsports Complex as well. I still have a lot to learn and see. All of the mods I have done to the car are listed on the signature.
Not sure I will do BMWCCA at the glen. Just to let you know, their track time is quite limited. That is why many of us run other clubs like SCDA. They have 2.5 hours of track time per day.
Slinger, I think their sessions actually were 20 minutes long. They build the 5 minute crossover time into their schedule so it doesn't come out of your advertised track time. It's been a couple of years and I'm an old geezer now, so I might be mistaken. I do remember standing around a lot. Part of that was because we were sharing the track (it was Lime Rock) with The Club members that day. I thought their instruction and organization were very good, and it might be the way to go for your first or second track day just to get a good foundation.

I didn't really give it much thought until last year. I think it was at Lime Rock and we were so psyched to be on track for the heavily promoted 25 minute sessions. Then when we got the checker 20 minutes into the session every time I finally put it together. Now it'll be another question to ask whoever is running the event before I sign up.
I would have to go back and check past schedules but I believe Patroon BMWCCA and SCDA were fairly equitable in terms of cost-to-time on track at the Glen. Last Patroon Glen event for me was $395, and I remember ending the day tired and sated. They have open run groups for signed off drivers for way more time than any club will give students - that's the goal.
You guys sound like you spend all your time on-track watching your clocks.
Lime Rock Park is always a rip-off, due to "The Club." What does SCDA break down there, 4 sessions at?

Redskunk, VV is saying he is so bored on the straights, he stopped his pastime of watching flaggers/clouds/wildlife and started watching the clock.
I checked with a couple of chapters of bmwcca and they said they generally run 4 x 25. I think Genesee runs longer and has open track for combined advanced and instructors, so there is more time with that chapter.

Flaggers? Oh, those guys who usually are napping as we whiz by them? Speaking of wildlife, I did see that turtle on the straight after the hairpin at Monticello and thought about stopping. I would've been banned from the track for life. Turtle was squished by the time I came around again. Moral of the story: turtles shouldn't go solo at Monticello until they get signed off.
