How Many Track Days?

I have 28 track days on my 2008 R56 MCS so far. I was just wondering how many days NAM trackies have on their Minis and what mods you have done to keep it track capable.

On the power and handling side, mine is relatively basic with Stage 1 JCW with a Helix IC, Rear sway bar, lower control arms, front and rear end links, IE camber plates with Carbotech XP12 (front) and XP8 (rear) and the m7 USS. Other mods are more cosmetic...

I will be adding coils and a BBK soon.

I had 14 on my dead stock '03 JCW before I sold it recently......

I have about 5 attempts on my '09 Clubby, but 3 of those got rained out, so 2 actual track days so far - dead stock '09 Clubman S with a 22mm rear swaybar added. I'm supposed to go on the 7th, but guess what? it's supposed to rain.........

MiniDave,

About 1/3 of my HPDE days are in the rain. You don't drive in the rain? I think that is the best time as the Mini can now keep up with the big HP boys.

I'd love to drive one in the rain, but the event was canceled in all three cases. The last time it was pretty well justified tho, we're talkin biblical rain! Can't see the cars in the parking lot rain. Can't get out of the track as the road has 4 ft of water on it rain!

Plus too and also, my tires are down to the wearbars - I was hoping to squeeze one more run out of them, but it's not looking too good weather wise....

1 or 2, depending on whether you count the free sessions I got at Road Atlanta during the MINI vs. Porsche event.

I plan for that number to get much higher, but as you guys know, it takes lots of time and money.

After Sebring and Road Atlanta, I'm thinking the next one will be at Barber because I've heard it's a much better track for cars with good handling but not a ton of power... which sounds about right for my factory stock Cooper.

Anybody driven Barber and have comments/reviews?

Wow, that is 40 per year average. Must be a NAM record of sorts.

I've done 10 total so far, 5 in the 07 MC, 4 in the 08 MCS and previously 1 in the old 05 MCS. Both current cars are stock except for the wheels and tires, we have a set just for the track and the MINIs share them.

I've done just shy of 20 over the last few years.

Slinger, I'm signed up for VIR with Track Daze on Aug27th and 28th and Mazda Driver's Group on Aug 29th and 30th.

You going?

OC, I will not be able to go to VIR anymore this year. Just a little too far of a drive at 11 hours.

Had a great time doing the 4.2 mi Grand East course at VIR.

Just in case the dealer tries to rip you a new one the boot kit's around $65 and it's a two hour job max for a first timer. I just replaced mine last week. It makes a hell of a greasy mess if you drive with it torn so you'll need lots of rags.

Ahhh - bummer! How did you and VV do today out there? Did he change your tires for you??

Don't know if your coming back all the way on Rt 17 to 84 tomorrow but if you do traffic was bad starting about 20 miles east/south of Monticello on 17 south. It started backing up right at about the exit for 17k so if that's the case take 17k as it meets back up with 84 one exit west of Stewart Airport. I sat in that traffic for about 45 minutes last night so didn't get back until 12:15am vs 11:30pm. Construction on 17 S leading into Middletown is the culprit -- 2 lanes into 1.

S-driver,

VV and I ran two other Minis today. Good day generally.

No, he did not change tires for me but he did supervise.

I will be heading to Keeler to speak with Kyle.

I hear ya... I'll be at VIR the two days before the Mazda club goes and then I'll do their two days.

Just hope the car holds up....

Good luck getting the CV boot repaired.
