R-Tires

Base on my local conditions, I've narrowed down to these R-tires as my finalist. Yoko A048, Toyo R888 and Nitto NT01. I looking for first hand experience feedback on these tires to help me make my purchase decision.

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

I'm running the NT01's on the ///M - Very predictable tire when brought up to temperature. I found the tire to get a bit greasy when ambient temps exceeded 104f - not uncommon during the summer at WSIR, or Buttonwillow.

Some of the other track rats I hang with are pleased as well with the Nitto's.

NT01 will probably work best in your area

nothing like a good set of Hoosiers

thanks for the feedback. The local track rats from Porsche, BMW and MINI seems to favor ToyoR888. So I'm going with R888 at this time, will try the NT01 after this set. At the rate I'm going to the track 2~3 time a month, it won't be long.

Hoosier would be nice if I've a money tree in my backyard.

I've run both the R88 and NT-01 this season but in conditions so different it's really not worth comparing.

The R888 were when it was really cold here in TX, so cold the morning sessions had some ice on the track.

The NT-01's it was typical TX summer, 100+ out.

the A048's work well but must be heat cycled and shaved to 4/10's if using them in the dry.

I thought all R-tires benefit from proper heat cycle.

they do, but, some need to be shaved, others don't A048's will chunk on a dry track if run at full tread depth.

What kind of life are you all getting from your R rated tires? I go to the track about 9 times a year. I would like to get some R-rated tires that would last me through a whole season. I live in Oklahoma and summer temps can often be 100+. Spring and Fall temps 70-80's.

I also Run the Nitto NT-01's. great tire, and they have lasted me several track days, and a dragon weekend, with some street fun thrown in.
