Daytona - Dec 7,8,9

Here we are boys and girls, the mecca of motorsports, Daytona Int'l Speedway!

that's right, an HPDE at Daytona.

here's the basics - 3 days Fri, Sat, Sun - $1000

Driver's School -- D A Y T O N A, December 7-9, Daytona Beach, FL
Yes, you read it right... the "Mecca of Motorsports"...
Home of the "Great American Race"...
Title holder of "World Center of Racing"...
This 480-acre motorsports complex boasts a 3.56 mile road course
with 31 degree banking....and you can be there!

The Ohio Valley Chapter of the Audi Club North America, in conjunction with the Florida chapter of ACNA, is very proud to host the first driver safety school ever held at Daytona. As such, this event presents a "chance of a lifetime" opportunity to driving enthusiasts, to drive a true legend.

-- Registration will open May 1, 2007.
-- Space will be limited to 100 students and 100 instructors.
-- 50% of net proceeds to be given to charity.

http://ohio.audiclubna.org/events_cal.html

after speaking with the organizer today on the phone, the days will breakdown like this:

Fri - 2 or 3 sessions (30 mins each) with good classroom time
Sat/Sun - 3 or 4 sessions

oh did I mention this is at Daytona, running the full road course - nascar banking, International Horseshoe, etc.

and yes there is still space available!

some of us from FLA will be attending, as our normal tracks, Sebring, Homestead and Moroso provide us with great times, but nothing like taking on the banking of Daytona in your own car.

I know there are a good bunch of track junkies on here, so step up and join us for the 3 day weekend.

Hell December in Daytona beats about 80% of the country and of what you guys will be dealing with anyways in terms of weather!

damn, I thought a few of the regular DE participants would jump at the chance to get on the banks of Daytona.

I would love to go, and looked at it a couple weeks ago, but I just can't justify the $1k at this point.

Have fun and be safe.

Great Video . . . question? There was a rumor at the PRI show over in Orlando that two Grand American VW GTI's were at this event testing for the January Koni race.

Did you see them? Did you possibly hear any lap times for them? Evidently, they will run 3 cars in '08 with some factory money and high priced driver talent (Randy Pobst among others . . .).

It takes a 2:10 to run up front. I would like to get some times if you have them.

Thanks!

Randy

PS: We will run the Daytona test with our GA Minis the 1st week of Jan '08.

Since Pedro already took care of posting up one of the vids from that weekend, Randy I can tell you those GTIs are flying!

I have it on good accord that they are putting down over 360HP at the wheels!

We will be there again to root on your Mini this year at the Koni challenge race, and hopefully no bugs jump up and bite you guys again, as it seems you had most everything figured out at the end of last season.

Best of luck in the off season!
