Suggestions for first MINI track day
Suggestions for first MINI track day
OK.....I am going for my first MINI track day next month and was wondering if you had any hints, suggestions for supplies to take, tools, etc.?
I am flushing both the coolant and brake fluid before going, emptying out the boot, glove box and taking a small tool kit with torque wrench.
Anything else I should consider?

Check out snid's post on this subject: What's in the box?
I'll re-emphasize the importance of sunscreen. Also take a hat. And you can never have enough water, so I always have a small cooler with me as well.
If you have one of those portable tent-shade thingies, make sure it is one that won't collapse at the slightest of breezes. We had one that got destroyed by a gust 3 wks ago.
Have fun!!!

I think the jack stand and floor jack are nice to have, but probably not for your first time out. The only tools you *really* need are a torque wrench and a tire pressure gauge. If you need anything else (especially as a novice) there's sure to be someone there who can help you out.
Have fun!

Thanks for linking to my post, Brian.
My list was made as someone who has been to a dozen or so events, many multi-day. For your first event, you can leave off a lot of the tools and maintenance related stuff. And, like Brian said, if you find you don't have something you wind up needing, someone else will probably have it for you to borrow. I just like trying to be fairly self sufficient. But I certainly borrow people's floor jacks when possible. :D
You can even borrow the "essentials" for tools if need be - torque wrench and pressure gauge. It's probably a good idea to bring the correct socket for your lugs in that case, though - not all cars will use the same size lug nuts / bolts.

Snid is correct. You can borrow the essentials. I wore my flip flops to my first event and when I was getting dressed at the hotel in the morning I realized my shoes were still at home. No problem. First person I mentioned this to, lent me his spare sneakers.
