There was a discussion about vacuums eailer but I am looking for more detail.

Has anybody had experience with different peak horse power vacuums? I have a 1.5 php Shop-Vac. It works pretty well, but some things just wont come out of the carpet unless I scrub or beat it.

I've see some small canister type that are about 18" long and 7" round that have 4 php that are supposed to be great, but they range from about 175 to 300 bucks. There are some Shop-Vac brand, that have 6 php that are only 90 bucks. If you look at the numbers 6 would be better than 4, right?

I guess I want the best. I don't know if the peak horse power is the number I should be considering, or is there something else.

Any feed back would be great!

A little smaller than i'm sure you're looking for, but for detaling, I have one of thoes little hand held jobbers, they sell under many names, turbotiger, shark, etc, but the work great. The only think you have to worry about is the filter gets clogged up pretty quickly, but just hose it out and leave it in the sun for a little bit, and get back to work!

I picked up a 5HP Craftsman shop-vac from Sears for $60 and it's the best thing I've ever gotten for my cars!! There are a multitude of attachments you can buy for it including a "Micro Tool Kit" that's got things to get into any place you can imagine in your car. The power of the thing is awesome, the flexibilty is unmatched, and the price is PERFECT!! All told with the extra attachments and a few bags it cost me about $80.

Good Luck!
