I have dust ang bits of crap underneith the "glass" of the speedo and tach. Its all on the face of the gauge, I cant get to it. No idea how it all got there. Does anyone know how to get the gauges apart so I can dust them off?

http://cockpitspecialties.com/instructions.pdf (Beware: PDF)

These are from Cockpit Specialties website, they're instructions on how to disassemble the gauges to install their (awesome) replacement faces.

I hope it's okay to post that?

Do be aware that if you unplug the speedometer, it will require a trip to your MINI dealer to be re-programmed. The tachnometer is fine to un plug but not the speedo.
