Snow Removal
I lived in the mountains of VA for a few years.
no salt, quite a bit of snow that melted quickly, healthy looking females, lots of furry animals, but outside of the mountains....
yeah, I won't be going to texas. that's just one on the list not to go to. Jail is another. not forum correct, I know, but I never was.

Trust me, when there's 4 feet of snow on top of your car, you too will make use of that shovel. The small plastic collapsible one I keep in my car is perfect for it. OF COURSE I keep it several inches away from touching anything, but there have been times when there was no way a brush would remove snow!

I went to the sporting goods store and bought a collapsible back-country avalanche shovel for the MINI. The handle collapses so over-all length is less than 24" and it fits real well into the boot. Made from aluminum so it is sturdy. A necessary item if you live in snow county and travel those roads less traveled. Also it does work for scooping off the snow from your parked cars.
jwardell - do you always leave your wipers up? Is that so they don't freeze to the glass?

When I used to have a car parked outside, I used to use what was called a "Snow Brum" I think that is the brand name. The product name on the one I had was "SnoPro" - essentially it is flat piece of Foam with a place in the middle to screw in a handle of some sort. Look it up on Amazon or Google if you need a visual.
When using it, it never scratched or swirled the paint (even on my Black V70R.) I also found that after using it more than once or twice, it is very easy to control the motion - i.e. brusing even just a 1/8 - 1/4 over the body panels, and even then, I usually just ended up using it right up to the paint, and never had any negative experiences.
Just my 2 Cents.

It dawned on me that all my efforts at never rubbing the paint unless absolutely cleaned are going to get shafted when i have to remove snow off the car.
Dirt/dust/sand/etc will be on the car in small amounts.
Snow will be on top of it.
I push the snow off.
Car is scratched/swirled/spiderwebbed.
What a freakin waste of detailing time.
Anyone have suggestions for a car that lives on the street?

And no amount of agruing about paint finnish is going to change my mind on this
I don't care if you spend more time detailing than motoring, because if thats the case, why not just paint a wall in your house and detail that
