"Wheel Shield" now available online at Detailers Paradise!
I just got the "Leatherique" kit from DP. I've decided to test it out on my wife's ten-year old, world-travelled, war-torn leather backpack first, since that will be a *real* test of how well it works.
I've finished with the first step of the treatment, so the second step will be tomorrow. So far so good, but there are two things that are weird:
1) When you have two products, one called a "rejuvenating oil" and the other called a "cleaner", it seems very strange to use the rejuvenating oil first, followed by the cleaner. With just about every other two-step cleaner/conditioning process, you use the cleaner first, *then* the conditioner. I'm glad I read the directions first!
2) Leatherique has evidently been in the business for close to 40 years, but their cleaner is repeatedly mispelled as "Prestine Clean", both on the bottle and the directions. Not that I care - if it works, they can call it "Sludge in a Bottle".

I hope so. Looking at posts on other forums, I've read horror stories of people using Leatherique where it basically turned the leather into strips of beef jerky, but so many other people rave about it, and it's used by so many museums and restoration houses that I decided to take the chance.
the reason they probably instruct to use the cleaner after the oiling
is because with oil, the stuff that the leather absorbed in the past gets
kinda soaked up to the surface and while you remove that 'grime' you
also remove the excess amounts of oil.
i would suggest not sitting in those seats wearing white pants or dress (
,
your wife that is) for a couple of weeks though. let it air dry completely.

no, she meant no one is picking on YOU, but you keep insisting that
we are all pretty much crazy for spending so much time on our cars.
people take pride in their work, kinda like telling an artist why bother
spending so much time painting up a still when you can just take a
snap shot of it with a digital camera? lol
basically, you are missing the point. what you need is some Hydro and
some Nero along with some Wheelshield and Slick in your little paper
carton box you keep in your trunk and you are on your merry way.

I have Leatherique purchased directly from the manufacturer, and it has worked well for me. It can do wonders at restoring dry and stiff leather. Check out their website. They are serious leather specialists.
What I've found is that if Leatherique is applied to leather straps or belts that are actually layers of leather glued together, it can make the glue fail and cause the layers to separate. I discovered this when I applied it to a dog leash that was looking worn out and I was hoping to rejuvenate. Actually it was a pretty expensive leash but the Leatherique treatment revealed how poor quality it was.

I got all that stuff, kenchan. Again, I was kidding around doing something, btw, I picked up FROM compulsive detailers, coupled with the fact that, when I first sought advice for some good cleaning stuff, but made clear I was not looking to spend hours cleaning my car, I was given some crap. So, again, if it pissed you all off, sorry. But since I got the info I needed I doubt I'll be in this or similar threads much anyway.

you're welcome to stay and try Prima Nero.
I didn't specifically mean you. And I already ordered Nero. I gotta wonder why they would name a product after a lunatic who ordered the burning of Rome, though.
And that's all I have to say about it
Have to excuse LynnEl,..his skull is a bit numb. Other than that, he is ok.
And MLW,..you have to be used to people going, "OMG!! ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND!!"
I know I am. But then again,...I usually give em a lot more reasons, other than being OCD, to state that. Hmmm.. Yes,..I really do. Hehe

ahh, good going on the Nero.
order the Clarity bundle and get the same level of clean windows
and winshield as us.
"Nero" means 'go to sleep!' in japanese. i say that to myson sometimes when he's goofing around past 9pm. nothing wrong with
going to sleep.

muwa?

... only to find i must've used up all my 400 grit sand paper. lol!
so used 220 grit. it actually was not bad, just had to go slow and gentle
and crumple up the sandpaper before going into the crevies..
will start painting in the next couple of minutes.
perfect day. a little cooler than i wanted but no wind and sunnay.
