Tried something new...

Last year I put four coats of Meguiar's Gold Class carnuba on just before winter. That held up just fine and did it's job of protecting and looking good.

I have no idea how it is going to compare or work, but, I tried the 3 step Deep Crystal System by Meguiar's this year.

I believe the Gold Class goes on easier by comparison, but the Deep Crystal is shinier.

I will keep you posted.

Best,

GoldClass wax dusts too much and is a dust magnet right after you
finish. i would recommend a polymer sealant if you're going to do
a shiny look and to protect over the winter.

which brings up my next topic... PRIMA Epic.
oh? is the greeoh fan changing directions?!
gonna try something new this weekend!

Do report back kenchan. Detailer's Paradise is near me and if you like this stuff it would sure save me a bunch on shipping from Zaino.

will do! im going to see if i can even wing it tonight.
we loose most of the sunlight by 7pm so it'll be very close.

my plan...
wash, Griots PaintPrep, test feel surface if clay is needed, then Epic.
30min dry time. buff. then reapply again after 24hrs.

Is the "dust magnet" problem true with the Deep Crystal as well? Should I use a polymer sealant with this wax?

The 3 step Deep Crystal is simply their Chemical Paint Cleaner, Polish, followed by their Carnuba wax.

I has nothing to do with synthetics or otherwise. We're comparing a single product (Gold Class Carnuba) to system (3 step system that's also Carnuba based).

As far as the Gold Class Carnuba, is this the Gold Class Clearcoat Wax???

If you want to try a synthetic in the Meguiar's line, you've got NXT Tech Wax, or my favorite in their professional line, M21 (Synthetic Sealent which is a fancy name for a synthetic polymer wax like Zaino, Tech Wax, and others).

Thank's Richard, for your answer and input.

Yes, the wax I used last year was in fact Gold Class Clearcoat Wax.

Question: Is M21 Synthetic Sealant compatible with and can it be applied over the Deep Crystal Step 3 wax?

TIA, for you response.

Yes you can. On dark colors it will have the positive effect of making it richer than Carnuba alone. I've done this many times.

There are different paint polishing tricks we use to solve certain problems. Sometimes you need the filling properties of a certain Carnuba based wax, but want the richness and gloss of a synthetic polymer. As long as you stay with Meguiars products, they are formulated to work together.

Because M21 is a professional product you may have a hard time finding it locally. Your best bet is from a PBE store (Paint Body Equipment) which is where body shop buy and order their supplies from. They are located in just about every town that has a body shop. My partner Mike suggests going to the body shop and asking where they buy their supplies from and going from there.

Otherwise other ways to buy it are:
www.Meguiars.com
www.AutoDetailingSolutions.com

I soon found this out, so had to order online - none to be found in Toledo except 1/2 gal which would last me for two lifetimes.

Thanks again for your help.

You're welcome. You won't be sorry. M21 is really easy to go on and off. Just make sure you use the swipe test to ensure it's dry (drying times vary with humidity) before wiping it off and it will come off super easy.

It can be applied by hand or with a PC, and it won't turn the trim white.

First, the usual, wash, clay-bar then applied the 3 step Deep Crystal System. The results were better than I expected - a deep rich lustre. Today I applied Meguiar's M-21 and that was the icing on the cake. I had to put her in the garage because the shine was too bright and disturbed the neighborhood.

Indeed Megs 21 is a winner, especially with about 3 layers topped with a nice carnuba of your choosing

Of course if you haven't tried Epic, you'll love that as well. I have fallen out of love with M21 and replaced it with Epic. The separation problems of M21 came to be too much of a liability for me.
