303 High Tech Fabric Protection for interior
303 High Tech Fabric Protection for interior
Does anyone have anything good or bad to say about doing the interior (seats, and carpet) with 303 High Tech Fabric Protection.
I have a checkmate with cloth and leather seats so I am sort of warry about putting it on there though it says it will work with leather. On another post it says that the cloth seems to be the same. I would like to know if it is worth the effort and money.

I'd try buying a bottle and doing a small test. If the feel of the fabric is still good and it repels the way you want (and, of course, it doesn not discolor), then you're set. If it's not acceptable, post in the Cabrio forums that you'll sell your bottle for a few bucks less than you paid for it and someone WILL snap it up...
It works well for me
I have an 06 MCS with octagon tartan red cloth/leather, and a set of red/black coco mats on the floor (see attached thumb). I have treated both cloth and mats twice with 303 and so far am very pleased.
Application: I removed the mats from the car, sprayed until soaked, let dry 24 hours, then repeated.
I had good results on the seats using a fine textured ROUND foam sponge applicator (such as used to come with Turtle Wax, I think, but don't quote me. I don't remember where I got the red ones I have). Instead of spraying the seats I SOAKED the foam applicator with 303, then applied to the cloth, resoaking the foam with 303 as needed throughout the process. Take your time and be patient. I found it was fairly easy to control the application of 303 just to the cloth, not the leather, by using the foam like a paint brush, rotating through the leather/fabric curves. Really soak it in. The cloth gets all wet and dark, but don't worry. It drys completely within a few hours. I then repeated. The cloth may seem very slightly stiff afterwards.
I only drink water and never eat in my car, so don't know how easily something like mustard or hot chocolate would clean up. Water beads up nicely. If I get a dirt or dust smear, I use a micro fiber cloth lightly dampened with water or EinZett Cockpit Premium and the stain wipes right off. The seats and mats retain a full rich red color. I plan on renewing the application once a year or so.

I love the 303 Fabric Guard... it's fairly easy to do and the results on interiors are very impressive.
As someone else noted, you do need to allow it to fully dry for 24 hours (more or less depending on how dry/humid the air is).
*One thing I find very important to know is that this product smells very strong, can *appear* to discolor, and *appears* that it may never dry. HOWEVER, after it fully dries in about 24 hours, there is absolutely NO smell, NO color change (that I've ever seen in many uses), and it is perfectly dry without any change to the fabric at all. The first time I used it, it scared the daylights out of me! I thought I had ruined the fabric. Luckily, my first use was actually on a dog bed.
Still, I was relieved to find that it was perfect again after several hours!
Here's a cool 303 FB story... One of my friends used it on her interior fabric a few months ago. A few weeks after the application, she spilled an entire cup of coffee on the seat while driving. She said what it did was so cool that she almost crashed watching it... the coffee just rolled off her seats in giant liquid beads and onto her floor mat. The floor mat also had been treated so the coffee just sat there in a puddle on top of the carpet fibers. She eventually pulled over and just wiped it up with some paper towels. Not a drop absorbed into the seat or mat!
I would also recommend applying it with a foam applicator to avoid the leather on the seats.

I just used the 303 Fabric Guard on my space grey kaleido cloth seats....freakin' amazing...water beads up and runs down the seat completely dry behind......did not rub it in, just sprayed it on and waited (and wiped off any overspray on the vinyl or plastic areas).....now to do my wife's Civic with its velour-like cloth seats.....great product...smells like varnish when wet but no smell at all 3 hours later and dry completely in 2 hours
Thanks for the Information
This sounds like a very good thing to do and especially when the fabric is new or in very good condition. I'm going to take a look at all the places in the GP and think very seriously about this. Thanks for the information!
I use it on the boot shelf at least once a year... it has a UV protectant in it, so I hope that it will resist fading that way (that and the tint should get the job done). I just pull the shelf, spray away and let it dry and air-out for a few days in the garage before replacing.
