What I got from Griot's - am I missing anything important?
wash bucket which i fill up to about 5.3 - 5.5gallons... so 5.5x3 = 16.5oz.
i get barely 3 washes out of that little container.
and i alreadyused one shot. 2 more shots left.
you might have the old 16oz bottle?
but the one I have has the 1oz markings on the side of the bottle so you can just pour it in and
watch how much you poured. it's a great idea...
although, i have a separate cup to measure 5oz... it's the cup i got off
my laundry soap refill container. perfect size.

Maybe I am just wrong and should reread the dirrections...
maybe... hey, wanted to ask... do you use those dispenserpumps for your carwash? Is that any good? I got their spout for
the SpeedShine gallon bottle and like it a lot, but i think the car wash
is too thick for it to run through the spout and need to use the pump.
I think it depend on the bottle, not the liquid. I used to just use a funnel, but I order some of the spouts and like that alot better.
for your 1gal carwash container?
other way around.
The old 1 gallon bottles used the pump, the new ones use the spout. I used up all the old gallons. And if the stuff I am ordering does not come in a new bottle, I ask for one...

I use the gallon bottles as well. The catalog specifically says that the car wash soap requires that you use the pump rather than the spout. I have a mix of the "old" and "new" bottles, as well as both pumps and spouts. Either top works with either bottle, except that the car wash soap is too thick for the spout.

try Coastal Tool first. Same thing for 1/2 the price .
And no, the Griot's RO is not specially made for Griot's, at least not in any mechanical way.

I'll definitely be checking out Coastal Tool for some other things I need, though - thaks for the tip!
As for Griot's RO, it's similar to a PC but not exactly the same, from what I've seen. It has a different handle (it's on the top, not on the side) and it has a vent thingie that S Curves said they claimed was used to cool the back of the pad... Someone else claimed that was bollocks and the vent was for some sort of woodworking add-on that directed air to a filter or something... Who knows?
The Griot's catalogue says this about their new polisher:
"Our new Random Orbital took over a year to develop. It features all the wonderful attributes of our old orbital and offers even more, for less money."
That, combined with the obvious differences in the handle, vent, and backing plate lead me to believe that the Griot's polisher is more than just an off-the-shelf Porter Cable.
I don't really care one way or the other - I'm a rotary polisher kind of guy, and I use an old battleaxe DeWalt DW849 for my polishing needs.

handle, wouldn't it be easier just to pour it into the measuring cup
than pumping it out each time? or wait, im loosing out on the coolness
factor... silly me. the bottle needs to accomondate the garage.
i noticed that too, on their catalog. i donno...since it already has a

I have all of my gallon bottles lined up on a counter, and it's real easy to just carry my wash bucket over to the counter, hold it under the pump nozzle, and give it four quick pumps. That gives me just the right amount of soap, and I don't have to measure anything, or lift or move the bottle.
I do prefer the spouts to the pumps, though. With the thinner liquids like the wheel cleaner, rubber cleaner, and Speedshine, dispensing them using the pump causes them to foam up, so I can't fill the bottles all the way up. Not really a big deal one way or the other, though.

A full gallon bottle of car wash can be a little unwieldly when you're trying to pour it into a small measuring cup, but it wouldn't be unmanageable.

you're probably right. i was thinking of a weight of a gallon of milk but
the car soap's going to be much heavier then that. I'll get the pump when
i order the gal of their car wash.
Do the spouts leak at all? I recently got the spout for my Speedshine,
but since i need to shake it anyway before refilling my spray bottles that
i have the gal jugs standing upright.
I store the square gallon bottles on their side, so the spouts are "under pressure" all the time, and I haven't had any leakage.
You said you shake the Speedshine gallon before refilling your sprayer - have you had problems with settling if you don't shake it first?

thanks for the info.
yah, i get like a white color layer at the top ofthe pastel blue color of speedshine...so i need to shake it to mix it together.
the sprayer bottle (35oz) also says to shake well, so i assumed i need to
shake the gal jug too, before i refill the bottles.
does anyone know how much liquid a pump pushes out? I just bought the gallon car wash (ouch my wallet) and the pump. I dont want to waste any of it and plan on trying to go for 2 oz and 2 gallons. I dont think a mini needs 4 oz and 4 galons if I use a two bucket method. shrugs? trying to conserve!
You should see my griot's shelf. damn. i spent a chunk.

I went out to the garage and pumped out eight ounces of soap to get a more-accurate average. It took ten full strokes to get eight ounces of soap, so figure about 0.8 ounces of soap per pump.
I don't know how big your bucket is, but if you use two pumps' worth of soap and a little over three gallons of water, you should be in good shape.

of water.
so... it looks like i got not 2, but 4 more shots before the container is
empty!
of carwash per Griot's recommendation before claying/polishing... that
plus Meg's Goldclass being 1:1, i think i got mixed up. i haven't used
the Griot's wash since.
1oz for 2 gal of water for Griots
1oz for 1 gal of water for GoldClass
1oz for 1gal of water for Griots if you're going to prep the car (per
Griot's recommendation) for clay/polish/wax. you'll still need to
use PaintPrep or dish soap if you plan on changing waxes.

your wash bucket to reduce the percentage of contaminants and
grit in the water.
GENERIC CALCULATION:
let's say you have 10 grit floating in your 2 gallon bucket.
I would only have 5 grit floating in my 4 gallon bucket that
i might pickup with my wash mitt as concentration to contaminants
is half of yours.
which would you like to use?
