I've used the duster according to directions (aired out for 48 hrs and shaken before, mid, and after use), however, it seems to leave these many small crayon-like streaks on the windows. Haven't seen it on the paint, but it could be there. Any suggestions on how to get the duster to leave no streaks?

Keep using it.

The way the duster works is it uses a parafin wax (Ithink that's what it is). The first few times you use it, it will leave streaks of this wax. As it gets a little more use, that won't happen anymore.

Mine even talked about that with the directions.

I've been happy with mine - it makes it a lot easier to keep the rear hatch clean!

In general, avoid using the Cali Duster on windows. As a habit I will use it on the sunroof and the side windows with a QUICK once over. The front and rear I only use a clean towel to dust.

When you "aired it out" did you place it on newspaper? The newspaper tends to soak up the excess parafin wax. I left mine on the newspaper for 2 days prior to it's first use. Then I used it on a DIRTY car and shook it out. Let stand on the paper for 1 more day. Then used it on my car. For the first couple weeks, place it back on the paper between useages. This will help get all the excess out.

Been using the same one now for about 2 years and NO problems. The dirtier it gets the better it seems to work. Go figure.

Originally from Arizona (Dust Capital). California cars dusters are the best! The streaks will stop after a few uses, I dont' suggest the newspaper idea, that may shorten the life of the duster. After they are good and dirty they really do work great.

Is it just me or is this an extremely counter-intuitive, oxymoronic concept? In order for the product to clean your car it needs to be dirty!!??

I really hate to admit this. About two years ago I bought one of these things. I used it twice before it was too dirty to use again! I threw it away. See what happens when you don't read the instructions.

Once again proving that reading Instructions are CRITICAL

the California Duster is more effective the dustier it gets! I've had mine for years now, it looks gross, but still works flawlessly!

I found a mini one (not a MINI one though ) that I keep in my boot. I thought about getting the big one but the smaller one seemed a little more appropriate. It worked out well because this weekend I was up in northern NJ at a wedding and beforehand I did a quick wipedown.

I've seen them in all major auto stores like Kragens, Pep Boys or Auto Zone stores. The price, I'm not sure of...maybe around 10-15 dollars only.

I keep one in each car and use it before and after a drive.

It helps to keep the car clean before the next wash. I also use quick detailer twice a week.

It's especially useful if you dust off your car before you cover it with a car cover. It takes off the extra particles that may scratch your car when covered.

Costco has a package deal where you get a big one and a little one for about 12 bucks.

I've seen both sizes at Wal-mart. Not sure about the price, but I'm sure they're pretty competative with any other store.
