detailing under the bonnet

I just spent 3 hours....yes 3 hours detailing under the bonnet today......(spring cleaning)

For tips........

1. Use diluted simple green to spray down the engine compartment. Use a bottle brush or soft rag (microfiber) to wipe away problem areas. NOTE: If you use simple green full strength it may strip the cheap one coat paint from your struts, etc. I did this full strength before and the paint peeled around the stuts so I had to do spot painting. BTW My Mini Parts saved the day with their OEM spray paints.

2. Once you "degrease" and rinse the motor/engine compartment with clean water (oh and do not forget to clean under the bonnet hood too) use Meguiars Hyper Dressing. I used a 2:1 mixture. Spray the whole engine compartment liberally and let dry. If there are a few build up areas where you can see the dressing pool....just take your handy dandy all purpose micro fiber towel and blot it up.

3. WOW.....better than showroom look! (see pics below).......not too bad for a 2004 MCS

sssshhhhh.....am prepping for my MINI to be at the 2006 Seoul Motor Show....pics will be posted after the event....

Wow only three hours, I spent six and a half doing the exterior and interior, but didn't have time to wax. Guess I'll put this on my list of things to do when I wax. Thanks for the write-up perfect timing!

Looks fantastic! Have you tried the other dressings from Meguiars (Silicone Free and All-Season)? If so, how do they compare?

What about their Safe D-Greaser for the engine bay/wheel wells, etc???

Again, looks great!

Watch the vids......hyper dressing is recommended by Barry for show and go cars. Go to carcrazycentral.com It is non flammable, non toxic....and works great. 1 gallon will last a long time unless you have a lot of car shows to show off yer motor.......

PM me for more info,,,,
