Cover black area when waxing

Is there anything I can buy to cover the black area of the mini when I'm waxing. I only want to wax the body paint and not get any on the bottom part. I was thinking some tape or something.

Try painter's masking tape. it's blue in color. Or try wax that doesn't get white like zaino.

Or take a couple of your applicators (you should have several and pure foam are the best) and cut them ito shapes. Simply lopping off the edge of a round applicator with a straight edge gives a sharp edge you can use sideways or on edge to apply the wax in an exact spot. And you can cut another with a convex circle in it for getting in tight areas. I have several of these. It takes FAR less time and effort than taping!

The detailer that i use uses a type of masking tape. Seems to work well.

Use a 'wax' that doesn't bother the black stuff.

I've been using Buffalo Milke (really..) lately, and have been /very/ happy with it. Works on glass, paint, and the black stuff...and so far it's still beading happily after 3 months in the Florida sun and rain... It's not Zaino, but it's a hell of a lot easier to apply...easier than /anything/.

They've got a trial size for a bit over 5 bucks that should do a MINI at least twice..

The hardest part is learning to not use to much, and to not over-work it. It's different from any other wax...

A long while back, I bought a 12 inch plastic drywall knife at Home Depot ($2-3). I would just slide this along the bumper of my old Toyota to protect the black plastic bumper from the wax. I've never tried it on the curved arches of the MINI.

I've seen pics of several people using blue painters tape and it looks like it does a fine job. The black plastic vents near the wipers can be a pain to tape off, but I believe that they pop out fairly easily.
