This is the best forum and the info is extremely helpful. It has been a long time since I had a car that I felt like detailing and boy have products changed since we had to use talc to rub out Simonize, which incedentally took an entire weekend.
I am on a very limited income and would like to use Zaino Bros. stuff. What would be a list of essentials not costing an arm and a leg?
TIA,

Not sure what your budget is, but if you want to go with Zaino I think your best bet is this kit: Total Protection Show Car Kit ($85.00)
All the essentials are included in this kit.
If you have leather and want to use Zaino's leather products (I don't have leather but I've heard good things) then you can step up to the:
Ultimate Protection Show Car Kit ($117.00)
I purchased the first kit myself when I got my MINI, and have since added Z-8 to my arsenal for "special occasion" quick detailing.

The good news about the Zaino stuff is that it really is that good ($85). It also lasts well enough that you can keep your MINI in showroom condition with about 3 applications per year. With that in mind, the kit will last you quite some time, so that may make the expense easier to swallow.
Did I mention that it's worth it
Glad you like your MINI

I have been using Zaino for almost 3 years now. There are many great products out there, but Zaino is the one that I like to use.
Sometimes I think when I am detailing my MINI, it has me under its control.

Now when I blink my lights you will awake and apply 3 coats of Zaino.
Our MINI Club, M2C2 has had 4 Zaino Detailing Clinics. Here is a link to our last clinic.

I'm a self-professed Zaino nut, but if you are looking to keep your car protected on a limited budget, I might suggest looking into Meguiars NXT. It's less expensive, usually available locally and does a great job.
I personally believe that Zaino will give you a slicker, more reflective surface (up for debate based on personal preferences) and lasts longer (several comparison studies support this), but I've seen some great results with NXT on this board and a lot of NAM users love it. There was a recent thread for NXT vs. Zaino and it might be good reading for you. It will require a more frequent application in most conditions, but if you are used to the old ways of talc and cheap carnuba cleaner waxes, you are going to love either NXT or Zaino/Klasse.
