Bugs!!!! Yuck!!!!

Well Poco and I did our bit coming home last night to help reduce the mosquito population.
Had to stop on the highway to fill the washer fluid, and thats not easy to do in the dark, holding a flashlight in your mouth, swatting mosquitos with one hand, while pouring in fluid.

I'm off to the wandwash, I'm not touching that.

I'll post these pics as thumbnails, so those with a weak stomach don't have to look

If what is on your car is mosquitoes, then I don't need to come to Canada. I don't see how you could swat them fast enough. That many bugs look like they were trying to highjack your MINI and became suicidal by flying in front of the MINI. Good luck with getting them off and out of your radiator.

After seeing that monstruosity amount of mosquitoes, I can tell you almost extinguish them in your region. All advice I can give is to buy a bra. Enjoy that washing time.

The second day I had my car we were driving in West Virginia, went through this 5 mile cloud of bugs. My car was covered as bad as yours, though I have an S, so it was worse, all the bugs went in the intake and got all caught in the intercooler. Took a while with a toothpick to get all the bugs out of the intercooler fins.

Has anyone noticed that the xenon's attract bugs? I get twice as many bugs in my car that i do in our VW. I have gotten to the point where i turn them off when going over the lake. I thought we had bad moquitos here in Texas, guess i was wrong!

Oh Canada

Only time I ever experienced anything like that was driving from Key West to Orlando, FL in the middle of May.

I've been through Manitoba several time in late August and September and they were non-existant.

I've heard wild stories about the mosquitos up there, but WOW, that's crazy!!!!! I have NEVER seen anything like that!!! Is this a daily occurance????

I've had nothing like that there, but I will say my clear bra has provided an unforseen benefit for dealing w/ things like this.

wow

That is disgusting!! I have never seen a swarm that big plastered to a car.

It doesn't look like they were attracted to the headlights either. Looks like they were trying to get under the bonnet through the hood scoop.

Makes me want to hurry up and get my Invisible bra.

Unbelievable Lotsie...really disgusting. Don't blame you for heading to the wand wash. I'd be gagging trying to wash off that mess!!

Nothing like that in Alberta!!

They are not attracted to anything, theres just so many. We have had a record amount of rain here, so fields that shoud be full of crops, are full of water. In 35 years of driving I've never seen them this bad.
The zenon washers work great

Poco washed up real easy, but looks the same again tonight, guess a daily visit to the wand wash will be the order of the day for awhile

Lot:

Your picture of sunset on the Lake had me thinking it might be time to learn the words to "Oh Canada."

This picture took care of those silly notions:

Those are some bi- -ig mosquitos!

It's pics like that, that keep the roads empty up here

The fishflies are just starting.I'll post pics of them if they get bad.
I've seen front end loaders being used to clean them up around the harbour here.

They are functional, have character, Honda build quality, unique, and do well at pretty much anything ya throw at it. I welcome the design, toaster, box on wheels, old school milk/panel truck, whatever one might view it as.

Maybe I should have taken the MCS with 4 adults on a 3000 mile road trip.

From a pure utilitarian point of view, Elements are hella-cool! How many cars have spray-clean interiors?

This picture above reminded me of my love-bug experince in Florida (that someone mentioned above)... You would be driving along with no cares in the world when you would see a dark grey cloud hovering above the road. You could FEEL THE IMPACT of the car driving into the cloud of tiny, beetle-like bugs. I had to find the ice scraper in my trunk to remove the carcases before I could even consider the gas-staion sponge and squeegie thing... Ugh!

 I like the Element...it's grown on me. It's definitely funky AND functional. I love the spray-cleanability, too! Great rough-about wagon.

Oh, Lotsie! When I visit you sometime in the future, it will HAVE to be before or after skeeter season....they LOVE me!
