Eggs!
Eggs!
Harsh language below...
Phuckin' kids think its funny to egg people's cars in my parents rather wealthy hood and Black Tie got it last night in the rear end. I swear if I find the son of a ***** who did it theres gonna be hell to pay.
Anyway, Ive been scrambling all day to clean it up. Most of it was on the glass (point of impact) but a good amount was on the paint right at the "MINI" logo on the hatch. I am looking to you super detail studs to let me know the best way to get it up and out. I did a hot hand wash right upon discovery with dish soap thinking it would be good against the egg (and I dont have any wax or anything down yet as the car is new in a Chicago winter) but there is egg up under the spoiler where it attaches to the roof and getting at it has been a *****. Should I be worried about any of this staining my black paint, or have I put enough soap and water on it to hold it over until I can really get at it?
Thanks,
TJM

Well that totally stinks! Sorry to hear about this. At least they didn't KEY your car like they did mine...
Keep cleaning - it will all come off... But as you probably already know, get it off quick!Donna
02' CR/W MCS & 05' Cool Blue MCSC
My 02 MCS got hit, major impact , Halloween night. The point of impact left a circular "crown" of egg shells embedded in my paint.Still there.HOT water ,but watch out for the glass, as it will crack if it's cold outside. And definately get it off pronto! Sucks, man,I feel your pain.
Don't use HOT water! Use plenty of luke warm water and just give it time to soak off. If you have time to pick up some auto shampoo (anything in the auto isle of Sprawl-Mart will do...) it will be better for your finish as dishwashing liquids will strip off your wax. You were correct in getting the egg off of the finish ASAP.
You may get the 'crown' of scratches that is mentioned above. This is a concentric ring of scratches caused by the egg shell breaking against your paint. While you are at Sprawl-mart, pick up some Meguiars Scratch-X and a foam applicator. Maybe a microfiber buffing cloth as well. You might have to hit an auto supply store for the Scratch-X. Once the area is clean and dry, put a pea sized dot of Scratch-X on the foam applicator and rub over the scratches with a light to medium pressure for 5-10 seconds. Buff off with the dry microfiber. Examine carefully. Repeat if necessary. (Read the instructions on the Scratch-X before doing this... just to be safe)
Once you get the scratches out, you will want to wax the area to renew the protection. If you found the Scratch-X, you can probably find a small bottle of a cleaner wax. Look for any wax from Meguiars (I've heard good things about NXT) or Zymol. There are much better systems for sealing and waxing, especially in harsh environments like the winter in Chicago, but this will do for now. Look for previous threads regarding Zaino or Klasse for more information on sealants. You can also check the 'how-to' section on www.autopia-carcare.com.
