Product to stop windows squealing as they go up and down?

When I took my 05 MC back to the dealer after 4 weeks’ ownership to check a couple of minor things, they ‘washed’ it without asking me and did a pretty lousy job finishing it – smeared windows, glossy tyre cleaner overspray on the plastic trim and, worst of all, the windows now make a terrible squeak when they go up and down. Cleaning the windows with Meguiars glass cleaner and a microfibre towel temporarily fixes the problem, but the squeak comes back.

Reading around, it seems I’m not alone with this problem. The glass is making contact with the rubber seals, so I figured there may be a good product for lubricating the seals? Maybe the 303 wiper treatment recommended by BradB?

Someone on MINI2 suggested there is an official BMW spare/service part which is a kind of ‘gunk’ that comes in a spray bottle and lubricates and smooths out any friction, thus stopping the noise.

I’d really appreciate any suggestions on how I can fix this myself rather than taking it to the dealer.

Thanks

Stuart

That could well be the white greasy stuff that has streaked my windows ever since the car was new (2 years ago). I wash it off, and back it comes after a couple of ups and downs of the glass. On the other hand, the windows squeal and groan less when there's more of that gunk on the glass.

Bottom line seems to be that some MINIs do this more than others, but all have the tendency toward noisy windows; and there doesn't seem to be much that can be done if you have one of the noisy ones.

I would consider this. 1Z Glas Polish. Easy to apply and buff off. It will remove any residue or film on the glass and will leave a protective coating. I love this product. Inexpensive, too.

mm.. just took it into dealership to have them take care of it. i think they replaced a bunch-o-stuff. not so sure. tell them not to clean it. they really stink at the whole "detailing" thing.
