Zaino's strange reaction?

I was wondering to those zaino gurus out there about a very minor question

i recently laid 2 coats of Z2 on my car (without dawnwash, but the car was in need of waxing anyways), then finally laid a layer of california gold original formula wax on top of the zaino

just today i was washing and after i dried the car i touched the surface.... and wazam! the slickness i had 2 weeks ago was GONE!!!!! i was panicking at that point that i spent 3 days laying this expensive stuff on my car only to have it disappear in 2 days

only to find out the slickness return about 10-15 minutes later after i done my wheels! hm.....

is this normal? i want to know also if zaino has any water repellentcy as well, when i sprayed the car down both before and after the wash the water was puddling on the hood, while most of it did slide off...

any help is much appreciated!

What were your reasons for putting the carnauba on top of the Zaino? Color change, I suspect?

Putting this wax, or any other wax, on top of the Zaino will affect the slickness. You are covering it up. Putting a barrier between the Zaino topcoat and what you feel. This will affect the beading, streaking, water repellency, etc. You cannot add more Zaino until the carnauba is completely stripped off again.

Also, FYI...one of the best attributes of a Zaino finish is the ease of keeping it up with the use of the Z6 quick detailer and Z7 shampoo. These BOTH dramatically boost the durability, shine and slickness with each use. But the carnauba topcoat has made this a mute point now.

The reason you feel your wax lose its slickness and then regain it some time later is because carnauba is hydroscopic. It absorbes moisture. In doing so it changes molecular structure and degrades. While this is happening you can feel the difference. When it dries it feels hard again and slicker. But it has degraded. This will happen in high heat situations as well. A few washes and a few rainstorms and your wax is almost gone. That's just the fact with carnaubas.

protection... until i realize what a waste of time and effort that was!

thanks for the headsup, should i just redo the zaino with some zfx so it speeds up the process next time i get to... i am real **** about using dawn on my car because i fear if i do not lay a proper layer of z2 at least then im pretty screwed!

i think you mean that carnauba is "hygroscopic" ....hydroscopic ( not a valid word ) i presume is a buzzword.... like thermoplasticity

CirqueDeSoMini-Thanks for catching my mis-spelling. Typing is not my best skill.

kyriian-Yes, I would "Dawn Off" the carnauba at some point and add some fresh Zaino. Use ZFX and add a couple quick coats-that's what I do.
