How Do I Protect Brand New Car? Wax?
I have a brand new chili red Cooper S. The finish is absolutely gorgeous and I want to keep it as new looking as possible. Is there something that I should do to the paint from day one such as a special wax or coating, etc? It is garaged at night but I live in a climate that varies from the 40s in winter to over a 100 in summer and it will be parked outside during the day. Thanks!
The best thing to do is have the car coated with a product like CQuartz Finest, Opti Coat or Modesta. A coating like this will protect the finish the longest and act as a barrier to prevent paint etching. Plus it makes cleaning the car a breeze. I had my GP coated right after I got it and was the best investment I could have done.
put it in the garage
surround it with 3 inches of bubble wrap
do not touch it .... EVER
OR
drive it and accept an occasional ding ot chip as LIFE
My most recent new car was dive bombed by a BIG BIRD while I was doing 70 ... at less than 6 months of age
Short story is the bird (wood stork) caused nearly $1000 damage. Wiped the pass' side mirror and dented the door .... after reviewing the 'fix' plans of the dealer and insurance, I'm living with the dent.
Sometimes the FIX does more damage than the bump . . .
