Clear coat - finish after repairs - please help
Clear coat - finish after repairs
I recently had some paint work done on my Mini; after bringing the car home and carefully inspecting the car under florescent lighting in the garage, I noticed some inconsistency in the clear coat in areas where clear was blended across the entire panel due to some color work on the other side. The area in question is the hood - some areas exactly match the factory finish, while others are rougher and have more dimpling or orange peel when viewed under the scrutiny of the bright lighting. Given the fact that no paintwork was done in these areas, I know that only the clearcoat is affected. My question is can this be fixed via buffing or colorsanding? When I picked up the car, I brought to the shop's attention several spots that were imperfect due to dust specs but did not notice or mention the orange peel at that time - I was told that some light color sanding once the top coat cures would resolve the dust spots and make it perfect - my concern is whether this same process can also address the orange peel? Other than these concerns, the paint is blended perfectly and would be completely undectable to the most discerning eye were it not for the aforementioned items. Hopefully this is a straightforward fix
Thanks in advance for the feedback!
