Need help with clear coat

I was trying to repair some scratches myself and have made a mess of things. First off it seems I sanded to hard and went through the clear coat so I then went to the store for help and was given a clear coat spray and after using it of course it does not match. so now I have spots all over the car with a miss matched clear coat. Before I go ahead and screw this up anymore I am wondering if anyone has some advise? I am thinking the whole car is gonna need to be sanded down and a clear coat re-applied. The clear coat that I sprayed on was supposed to be high gloss but it looks like a matte finish and when I try to sand the edge to blend it just sands off the original finish. So frustrated. Thanks to anyone who can give some words of encouragement or help.

I've started and deleted 4 different responses to this and still don't know what to say except to say quit making it any worse. Based on your description, a good body shop is your only alternative now.

you did what?

I would take it to a body shop before you make it worse. Not going to be a cheap repair i would assume.

Wet sanding takes practice. I think I'd stop practicing on the MINI. Have you polished it yet? That can make it look a lot better.

Pics would help a ton. But from your description sanding does not seem to be one of your best attributes. What grit are you using for sand paper? Are you wet sanding? Are you using a block? Have you spent some time on youtube.com to find a video or two to show you what you should be doing? Do you have a random orbital polisher, compounds, etc.?
