Detailing Services - San Diego?

Hello all,

Just bought a Mini Clubman 2012 and after having bonnet stripes added today, the dealership also added some spider web scratching to the paint with a poor drying job / rag.

Looking for a TOP-notch detailing service in San Diego or Orange County that I can take my baby to for waxing etc.. and get these tiny scratches out. I had heard that the dealership washings are a NO-NO and now I know why.

Please any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Just get yourself some Mother's clay bar and rub them out. Then put a little wax on it. If they are hairline scratches they should come out.
And, no, don't let them clean your car. I'd rather do it myself, gives me a
little one on one with the car.

This is actually not true. The hairline scratches and swirls cannot be rubbed out with clay or wax. Clay removes above surface bonded contaminants. That means, if it's a swirl which is a below surface defect, clay will have no effect on them.

Secondly a wax WILL NOT remove below surface defects. A cleaner wax helps reduce very light visible defects through a chemical action, but it won't take out dealer induced swirls. Hand applied products at the most will mask defects by filling them in. This is what the dealer and body shops use, i.e. glaze, to make the cars look good during delivery only to look worse after a wash or two.

drsimmons, yes -- that's the best way for further human / car bonding time, right?! To put a little tlc into myself. I just don't know the first thing about washing / caring for it properly! All I know is I LOVE my new Mini and want to keep it up as best as I can!

OctaneGuy, I'll have to take a look at your products and get to know what does what and what I could use in between professional detailing. Thanks for the input!

However, there is no better way to learn this than doing it with someone that is also a MINI nut as well as does this for a living.

No need to figure out the products on your own. The service I offer includes teaching and showing you what the products do so that you will be better informed about how to use them yourself. Everything from proper washing, to proper maintenance, and the differences between products.

You will do yourself and your MINI the biggest favor by simply scheduling a day to come up to my shop and go over what needs to be done.

LoveBucket, OctaneGuy has a good point. Once you know what to use and how to use it, you'll enjoy taking pride in your own workmanship. Take a trip to him.
I realize some people would prefer someone else to do this type of work which is OK, I just don't have that kind of extra money laying around.
Good luck with your project.
