Here you go.

Add one of these as well

And you're good to go
You might need one of these as well if the swirls are really pad.

Yeah the DA will make a big difference in getting out the swirls. I have one of the older orbital polishers and it just didn't do the job. Now with the DA it makes short work of them with the right products

At AMVIV this past week I demonstrated the PC. Here I am polishing out a Jet Black MINI using just an LC White pad and Prima Swirl.

But, until these products and practices have been shown to be effective empirically--meaning through independent research, they are open to dispute. Unquestioned practices upheld solely by faith is called religion. Sure, you can believe it works--even by a placebo-like margin--but, until you present cold, hard evidence that indeed it does produce the desired effect, that's all it is, belief.

So, a couple of years ago my kids presented me with a Porter Cable 7424XP with a 5 inch flexible backing plate, and 4 Lake Country CCS 6.5 inch pads (yellow, orange, white and blue) and both a 5 inch and 6 inch counterweight.
I took some before photos of the swirly and scratchy MINI. Then did the wash with Dawn, claybar and finally a stepped approach, based on research on this forum, to rejuvenating the finish on the MINI.
I was amazed at the results. Particularly for a novice.
Still not confident in my skills to do the black 4Runner I used the same approach for the Topaz Blue Z3. Wow.
Finally did the black 4Runner. It was a much harder job than either the MINI or the Z3. Probably not as good as a pro, but durned close IMO.
Once the swirls were gone on all three vehicles, is was pretty easy to keep them swirl free for the rest of the clean car driving season.
Now they all get that treatment in the Spring and it's all just maintenance of the finish until the following Spring.
Anyways, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

MNMLST, your not worth my time to argue with. go back and reread my first posts then yours where you decided to shoot down everything I suggested. And by the way, there is always someone just like you on these forums so i guess were both in each other's proverbial boat.
Whats the point, someone like you is just going to argue everything i say. But ill give you the BOTD. When you polish your mini or any car you will take a microscopic layer of clear off but if you werent so thick headed and willing to spend a little money and change your techniques like i/we suggested you wouldn't have to polish it again thus "taking" away more. Keeping on top of it with a quality sealer and wax will give you plenty of clear protection. But, in your case there is no point in even polishing because you think your right in your techniques, which ill drive this point home...you may have the right idea but you dont have the right products/techniques to truely "prevent" swirl's.If you polish frequently (with a highly abrasive polish) then you wlll eventually remove your clear but something like swirls can be removed with a really really fine polish. If your mini is scratch free then you could use something like ADAM's fine machine polish *relatively* frequently without ever getting dangerously thin on your clear. Now, like i said if you correct it once and follow techniques/products then you shouldn't have to do another polish
I corrected my **BLACK** mini a month and a half ago and it currently doesnt have a single swirl on it. Ive washed it 8-9 times already with the techniques outlined throughout the thread. Ill get it washed again and take a picture with a 1500 watt shop light on my paint to PROVE that i know what im #$@*& talking about. BTW: this is my DD

That's good news BigAl. When you buy your pads, make sure they are bigger than your backing plate. If your backing plate is 5 inches, your pads should be 6-6.5 inches.
And if you should have any questions feel free to post them in this detailing forum and you'll be sure to get answers!!

well i tried the pc polisher with the prima swirl, i used the polisher on like 4, but when i was done and inspected the paint with a bright light the swirls were still there. yesterday i tried using meguiars scratch x and swirl x, worked a little. i think i need lc orange pad and probably prima amigo and prima finish. anybody have an idea out there.?

How about posting some pictures? Also are you sure you have the technique down? Speed 4 isn't high enough to remove deeper swirls. Who told you to use speed 4?
Scratch X and Swirls X are less aggressive than Prima Swirl. Why would you use them?
The LC Orange pad might be the better bet, but I still have to question your technique.
Amigo and Finish can help you finish your paint, but it sounds like you have "deeper issues" before dealing with finer finishing products.
Call me..I can respond a lot faster and better than through forum posts.

ok this weekend i am going to try it again, but this time mask off like a 16"x16" area, spread the prima swirl in the box then polish and overlap with each pass. that was my first time polishing my mini ever, my technique was terrible.

Technique is EVERYTHING. Thanks for calling me yesterday. Hopefully we can get this all dialed in so that the next time around you'll have better success!

ok so here are some pics to give a better idea of what my mini looks like.

now i tried spreading the prima swirl with the pc polisher on a low setting then going back over it on a higher setting. worked good but still i see swirls and scratches in the paint. i need to get this straightened out before i go to canada this weekend.

ok here is a better picture of what i'm dealing with.

both pics are of the driver side hood. i see the remaining swirls still mostly all over the mini. i just want to get the scratches and swirls out so when i take it out in the sun the imperfections won't be there.

so this morning i just ordered a 6 pack of the lake country 6.5" ccs polishing pads. i can't wait til they get delivered. either friday or saturday i will get the meguiars c2000 mild clay. this should eliminate the rest of the swirls.

Agreed...guess we'll see how he likes the CCS pads. I have never cared for these pads which are harder to clean, don't last as long, and tend to wander compared to flat pads.
ha ya well after i used the orange pad with the pc and prima swirl on the mini and put it in sun all the scratches are still there and some swirls. i think my technique is good but i don't know why its not coming out. maybe i need to step up to prima cut and possibly a yellow pad. hopefully i can take care of this before the fall.
