Help! Porter Cable 7424XP Pads

I'm hoping some of the experts in here can help me. For Christmas my wife bought me a PC 7424XP....great gift. I've always done my own detailing, but other than using a couple cheap Simoniz buffers when I was younger, I do all my work by hand. However, I have arthritis so bad in my shoulder now, I can't do that anymore......which is why she bought me the 7424XP.

Here's my problem: Can I not get pads to take the wax "off" my vehicles using the 7424XP? The more I look online, it seems that the answer is no. I figured that with this polisher, that I would put the wax on with one pad, then switch pads, put it on it's lowest rpm and buff it out. But again, I can't see where anyone is doing that, they seem to be only using it for putting the product on. In my case, because of the arthritis, it's harder for me to take the product off, than it is to put it on.

So that's my question: can I use the 7424XP to take off wax and if I can, what pads do I use and where do I get them?

Thanks in advance guys.

Look at www.griotsgarage.com

They seem to have a few types of 6" pads. Also they are running a 15% off sale at this time.

You can get a microfibre bonnet to cover a foam pad and take it off with that. I've never found it any quicker though.
I'm sure one of the vendors here has them too.

Congrats on your new PC. I would highly recommend my PC OneGrip which is one of my inventions.

This makes polishing much easier especially with a handicap. For me, I suffer from carpal tunnel which makes it especially difficult to grasp the polisher.

As for your question, of course you can remove waxes by machine, but my concern is more about the effort required to remove polishes.

To remove waxes, just put on a microfiber bonnet over the stiffest pad you've got. This could be a Meguiar's W7006 pad or Lake Country Orange or Yellow pad. Then put the bonnet over that.

Removing waxes by machine is pretty easy and I used to do it all the time with Meguiar's products because I kept encountering scratch sensitive paint that would mar when removing the wax by hand, but removing with a bonnet minimized or eliminated that problem. Switching to Prima cured that problem however, so I rarely remove wax by machine anymore.

I've found that removing polishes by machine is much more difficult due to the nature of polishes. The easiest way to remove a polish is to spray some Prima Slick on it before wiping, and it will make removal substantially easier. I would imagine that you could potentially remove the polish by machine as well once you've lubricated it this way, but I haven't tried. I've also tried distilled water as well, but it takes a lot more effort to remove polishes than with Slick.

Thanks for the help guys.......I knew you'd have a solution. I'll sit down tonight and place an order with OctaneGuy, that way I can get all my pads, backing plates and bonnets in one place. Again, much appreciated.
