How do you clean the mesh grills?

Hi, I'm a newbie here. I'm about to wash my car for the first time since I got my '08 British Racing Green Mini Cooper S last Thursday. It is used, I immediately noticed some water spots on the grill. I thought this is going to be hard to clean. So my question is, is it okay to spray the front and back grills with Armor All Protectant and use a toothbrush to brush it after washing the car?

Please help.

I don't. I was going to do the Q-Tip thing but then I figured I had better things to do

The honeycomb grille is a mild PITA to clean but I would not recommend using AA on it. A soft horsehair brush and some ordinary car wash liquid is ok for normal cleaning just make sure you dry the grille after rinsing.

After a time you will notice that the plastic grille will start to fade and getting that to look better is truly a PITA. I've used both Back to Black and Black WOW applied with a small foam paint brush. Like I said it's a real PITA...but if your OCD you gotta do it.

I use Adams In-and-Out, comes in a spray can. Works great for the grill.

Wow, thank you guys so much. I just spent a good five hours detailing my car today. Washed my MINI with Dawn liquid soap, clay-barred it with Mother's, didn't wax it yet (waiting to get my Epic by Prima on Tuesday), and cleaned the inside with MINI's interior cleanser liquid. I gotta get Nero from Prima too on Tuesday for interior protection.

Anyway, I used the fine, soft brush from Wal-Mart to clean the honeycomb mesh grills, dried them with a blower using my good 'ol vacuum, then used the soft brush again (after rinsing and drying it) and used it along with Back to Black from Mother's. It worked fantastic! The results are stunning, just like brand new.

You guys should definitely try it and thank you so much for your input, guys.

Anybody use Nero from Prima here?

Prima Nero is #1, works great on the Interior, one suggestion though, do a 50/50 Solution it works miracles!!
(I've learned from the Kenchan Master!!)

Compressed air gets all the water out.

Horsehair soft brush and then I blow the water out with air from the vacuum. Works like a champ. I've not had to black because both of our cars' grills still look sharp.
