Detailer's Domain - Porsche 911 CS - New Car Resto
New Porsche 911 CS Correction.
I got a call from my customer telling me he just got a new 911 CS and asked me to take a look at it, I guess to my surprise I got a pretty swirled/hologram imperfect new 911! It always surprises me that dealers selling cars can do this, I feel its the dealers' job to present a perfectly prepped new car to a customer in fact they should do this for pre-owned cars as well.
Enough ranting, here is the write up.

It really is surprising how "new" cars are delivered like that. I mean, they come out of the factory well enough. I would think that the collective complaint of every customer would make the dealers wise up to proper washing techniques. I used to request that my car not be washed by the dealer back in it's warranty days to avoid something like that.
Good work with the Porsche though. So how long did the customer stop and stare before moving again? Is it Basalt Black Metallic? The car seems to loose the metallic flake in those last shots.

I had watched a show once about the 911 factory. They went on about the high quality of Porsche paint. Is the 88*units* thick as far as automotive paint goes? Does it vary from panel to panel on the same car? What about on the same panel? I find this interesting. I assume you measure to see how much can be buffed away safely, and if too much is gone, that thing will tell you that you cannot buff anymore.
correct figure on each panel its, +/- a couple microns, most dealers will go with mils and you will not be able to see the difference.
I have seen paint as low as 50 microns and as high as 700 plus on resprayed cars.
