Wheel protectant question

Anyone try this new wheel protectant by armourall ( I think) that has come out. Went by the parts store today and saw it for sale. It supposed to keep brake dust from sticking to the wheels. They want almost $10 for a can. I'd pay it if it would keep my front wheels clean.

Has anyone here tried the stuff, and does it really work?

I've been using Prima's Wheel Armour (I think it may be renamed to Wheel Shield). Whatever product you choose, I wouldn't get your hopes up that it will prevent the brake dust from sticking. My own approach is to keep the wheels with as slick a surface on them as I can get so it makes it easier to wash off the brake dust that does stick.

+1 for Wheel Armour. Nothing will keep the dust off completely, but with Wheel Armour I see less buildup and easier cleaning.

It works amazing. I washed my car three weeks ago and it is just now starting to wear off. It actually only started to wear off once I had to wash my car again so it might be that direct water to the wheels that have been protected will wash off the protectant as well. The price is steep but it works well for me since I live in an apartment and can't exactly quickly rinse my wheels off when they start to get covered in dust.

Which one are you talking about? Armourall or the Prima stuff?

I've not yet had a chance to use it, but I picked up a can of the Armor All stuff to give it a shot. The big thing going for this product is the fact that Armor All's offering it free after rebate (http://www.armorall.com/pdf/wheel_rebate.pdf) with the purchase of any other Armor All product.

Even if it's only mediocre, it's worth the stamp it cost me to mail in the rebate request. I say everyone should give it a shot because...well...why not?

The Armor All wheel protectant is amazing. I picked it up with the rebate after seeing the commercial. It's been on my wheels for 3-4 weeks and I've noticed a lot less brake dust, especially the front wheels. It says to apply once a month for best results. I'll definitely keep buying this.

+1 for ArmorAll. In addition to dealing with the wheel dust on my MINI, I also try and keep my partner's BMW 135i clean. The wheels on his car seem to get dirty by the time he gets to the end of the driveway. This stuff is fantastic - just spray it on a clean wheel, wait a few hours for it to cure and you're good to go. The protection will last for several weeks and keeps the wheel looking just-washed. NOTHING seems to stick to them.

8 bucks for a month of clean wheels on both cars is worth it for me.

Worked well for me too. Actually seems to do the opposite of what you'd think.... almost makes a less smooth surface.

Best thing to use is wheel wax or DP wheel glaze both u can get online from autogeek.net. also I use dodo juice hard wax and dodo juice soft wax first. Best thing for tires is wolfgang tire dressing its water based and wont sling off. Check out autogeek.net great deals there

best way to protect your wheels is to wash/wipe off frequently and use Prima Hydro often... low dust pads also help greatly.

best solution is the easiest effective solution.

I have mainly used a small California duster to keep my wheels clean between washings. It does a great job. Armor All wheel protectant is the first product I have tried that actually slows the build up of brake dust. Good stuff! Got the only four cans left on the shelf at Target....on sale for $6 a can....regularly $7.99. Considerably more expensive if you have to pay for shipping.

I can't give more props to Wheel Armor. I just did a tire rotation and after 3,000 miles of brake dust building up on the inside of my wheel it wiped clean with very little effort. In between waxing I use hydro every wash. I love Prima!

This armor all stuff does what it says. I've gone about 250km and the wheels are still clean. I'll use it while the weather is hot and dry for sure.

Is it required to remove wax I applied a week ago (wheel wax) for the product to work.

The ArmorAll does work quite well. The only thing I can say is that it's tricky to apply an even coating covering all surfaces completely.

I've used three kinds of wheel protectant, but only for my track wheels that take on a lot of race pad dust during events. I apply the protectant just before each event, and on the back side of the wheels as well. My preferences, in order, are Wheel Wax (also the most labor intensive), Eagle One Keep Clean Wheel, and Armor All Wheel Protectant last.

The Armor All comes in a 7 oz. spray can, while the Eagle One comes in an 18 oz. spray bottle.

I use Meguiars cleaner wax on my wheels. It doesn't repell the brake dust, but definitely rinses right off.
