How to remove road stripe paint?

I hope this is the right forum. I was driving up highway 5 in California two days ago and the state was re-striping the roadway while traffic was flowing. There was a truck tailing the paint striper with a sign that read keep off the center line. Since the road was two lanes in my direction and the only way to pass the truck was to change lanes, there was no way to stay off the newly-painted line between lanes except to follow a slow moving truck for who knows how long. Well, now I have dried white paint splatter on my lightning blue. Can anyone recommend a method to remove the paint without damaging the car's finish? I would be very grateful. Or, should I file a claim with the state if trying to remove it myself is too "iffY?"

Thanks.

The best luck I've had with road paint is using clay. Lots of time, but great results.

Yeah, I'll second the claybar - my brother's trunk got tagged, and it only took a couple of minutes to remove it with the bar I (conveniently) had in my car.

That happened to my old '02 EB MCS. Used WD40, a rag, and elbow grease. Took it all off.

I'll third the clay. It'll get it off without damaging your paint.

I used WD40 and Clay to get some paint off Poco a few years ago. Got it off, no harm done. But, the paint had wax on it, so that helped.

Hydro offers good protection, Banana Gloss offer better protection, Epic offers the best protection It's not all about looks
