I'm in the market for a car cover for my MINI. He will be forced to spend the first few months at his new home outdoors exposed to the elements. Sure Texas winters are no match to the chilly nothern states, but we do get our share of fall and spring sap, rain, ice and yes snow. Until I can keep my black beauty under a roof I'd like to hear suggestions for quality car covers designed for the elements, yet easy on the paint when the wind blows. Suggestions?

Any good cover is going to be lined. Even the light car covers have felt on the wear spots.

My recommendation is to get a custom fit from Cal Car Cover. If it needs to be water proof, get the Noah fabric.

A quality custom fit cover made of an outdoor type material like Evolution or NOAH can make a world of difference.

Make sure to clean vehicle the vehicle (use a duster and an instant detailer BEFORE putting the cover on to remove any contaminants from the surface).

I'd also suggest you get the cable and lock kit to help:

1) keep the cover on
2) prevent someone from stealing the cover

The OEM indoor car cover doeas not have a hole for the antenna. Anyone have an idea for a 'safe' way to mod this without causing excessive tearing. Sew a buttonhole? a grommet that won't scratch the paint? anything?

I have two car covers for my MINI. I have the indoor car cover with the zipper design on it. I was taking on and off the antenna because as stated in the email I'm responding to, it doesn't have an antenna hole. I bought the Alta stubby antenna for the MINI and this cover fits well with the antenna on. I recently purchased an inexpensive cover for outdoor use from Moss MINI for about seventy bucks and while not lined it does have mirror pockets, an antenna hole, and reasonable fit. Seems to work ok. I had my driveway replaced and added a turn around spot where my MINI parks outside so my wife and I don't have to shuffle cars always. I would be willing to part with the MINI indoor cover if anybody is interested.

I have a "WeatherShield HD" purchased from Big Sky Car Cover Outlet. (they advertise in R&T)

The cover fits beautifully and protects from sun, rain, wind, and snow.... Love the cover!

I reccomend you buy this cover from another supplier though.

I paid $12 extra for a cable and lock. They did not ship them with the cover.
I contacted them by phone and they promised they would ship them out immediately. That was 11 months ago... I am still waiting.

Oh well, good service is hard to come by.

Ann
